is CVD now the preferred method over HTHP to create LGDs?

Thank you for reading my post. With a TON of help from Pricescope I recently purchased a gorgeous HTHP diamond. And I was under the impression that HTHP is the preferred growth method. However, I just saw this on an LGD vendor’s website, and I’m wondering if things have changed in the past several weeks: “There are two common methods for lab diamond creation and growing, High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) and CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition). CVD is a newer technology and the preferred process to produce a quality, genuine diamond. We only use lab diamonds that are grown using the CVD process.” I am asking not because I regret my purchase, but because I might be making another purchase and want to ensure I select the best LGD method possible.

No.
It's the cheaper process.

Thank you, Deja Wiz. I read that blurb on Jean Dousset.com. Coincidentally, I found them when I was looking for engagement/wedding ring stacks. It had nothing to do with the fact that they only sell lab-grown diamonds. And their lab grown diamond jewelry is not cheap, at least by lab grown diamond standards that I’ve seen. In fact, I don’t know if you remember, but I think it was you who led me to my gorgeous LGD. It was originally $1112 and then went up to $3000+. Even at the $3000+ price, I don’t think I would’ve been able to get a comparable diamond for that price at Jean Dousset. So maybe they use CVD because it’s cheaper, and they also charge more for their diamonds, which helps pay for the allure of their name? They do have a pretty snazzy website. Almost like the Tiffany’s of LGDs. You’ve been very helpful, Deja Wiz. You’ve been wonderful to me. I still cannot get over how gorgeous my diamond is. Thank you again. I simply would not have had this diamond without your help.

My curiosity got the better of me and I search for a diamond on their website similar to my 2.13 carat D, VVS2 diamond:
Round 2.13 D VVS2 $4,900
So even if I had paid the $3000 plus for my diamond, this is still significantly more. And it’s CVD. OK, thank you Deja Wiz.
