Is it a mistake to bezel my emerald cut?

I have an emerald cut diamond that I have been planning to bezel set. I was searching pricescope for inspiration photos and I came across a few threads where people were advertised against bezel setting an emerald cut. Members stated that it would effect light return and create a dead look due to the cut of the emerald cut. Is there any truth to this? I plant to do something similar to this stuller setting. My instinct says this is BS because the stone reflects light off of the surface of the stone. Can any experts weigh in? TIA

I bezel set everything if I can, including my EC with no regret, as I do not wish to lose it due to the claws or prongs catching on something, the way I lost the Jade centre stone that my mum lent to me back in the early 90s.

Has the stone lost some of its sparkles due to being bezel set? I would not know as I never had it any other way.

Once set, it looked as good as when it was unset when I picked it out of 3 stones that I looked at.

However, I am not a diamond expert, just a regular ordinary consumer.

Personal preferences and all that.

DK :))

I also bezel everything. They do say the light comes from the top so I would assume I don’t lose too much performance wise. To me, possibly losing a tad in performance is a good trade off for me to have a sleek bezel that is comfy and easy to wear!
But, does this ring have an open gallery? One problem I encountered with an open gallery is that it could permit a diamond band to scratch the pavilion of the center stone. It happened to me :confused2:
Good luck!

Thank you! If you bezel everything I’d consider you an expert. I really appreciate your help

Thank you! I’m not set on this particular mounting. I had planned to go the custom route but I then I saw this stuller setting so I am considering it as an option. I’ll attach the side profile. It does have a diamond accent. I’m wondering if that would help protect the stone. I would think it would be the point of contact when I pair with a band.

That might work. Hard to be sure. The setting I have is completely open and my wedding band somehow got up to the pavilion…
