Is it cheaper to DIY invites or order them premade for 250?

Hello again.

Has any one had experience with DIYing versus ordering already made and printed invites for a large number of guests? Is the cost worth saving to DIY rather than order them?

Thanks!

I have asked the same question of my friends who have diy''d their invitations and they all tell me that if I was doing 50 or so invites, I could diy it. If I am doing any more than that, save myself the pain suffering and stress and order them. It took one of my friends a month to diy her 50 invites. If you have the time and patients, it will be a lot cheaper, but is it worth the aggravation? My other friend told me it took her and her dh weeks to design and an a sweat shop of her, her dh, and their families a week to get them finished. They did 100. You are doing 250....

yikes. True GTN, but for my budget and what I have my heart set on (pocketfolders) I couldn''t afford those pre made

Let''s see...aggravation and time versus moolah. Oh geez.

Have you been to this website? http://www.mountaincow.com/ It seems like it''s a combination of the DIY and pre-done. Do you think you could do 250 that way?

Thanks Facet. Another Q: How much ink do you think it will use? How do I determine how much ink I will need?

Sheesh, sorry for all the Q''s!

Ang3199,
here''s someone I''m using to make my invitations. She is reasonably priced..and for your quantity, you can always negotiate a discount!! I did ALOT of research into the invites and she actually did my girlfriend''s as well, and they came out beautiful!! Save your time and headache for other things...get your invites printed!!!

are you really sending out 250 invites? Or you need to make invites for 250 people - in this case I would assumed you only need about 125-150ish invites since you don''t actually have to send out one invite per person. In which case you can DIY it for less I think. But again, its just more work for yourself.

I am DIYing my own invites (150). I have a petal enclosure, a flat card, ribbon, vellum, rsvp postcard and envelope. I think I''m going to pull it off for about 500 (including postage - and my postage is slightly higher because I have a square card instead of a rectangular card).

It also depends on the type of invites you would order. For me this was a cost savings beacuse the ones I would have wanted to order would have been letter press with two color inks and those are SO expensive!

In terms of estimating ink. If you have laser printer at home, you should be able to print out a 150 invites no problem. I did and I''ve had the printer for aobut 3 years with little-medium usage. It''s just time consuming to do all the work yourself.

But if you check out www.paper-presentation.com you can order the pocket folds yourself and then find cheaper paper to print and cut for the invite portion. I thought they''re prices were pretty reasonable and is where I got all my invite supplies.

Good luck!
