Is it okay for Mikimoto pearl earrings and necklaces to be different grades?

I'm looking to buy Mikimoto pearl stud earrings and a necklace for my wife. I'll be buying the earrings soon so she can wear it for our daughter's first birthday, but I'd also like to eventually buy a necklace at a later time as well.

I'd like to buy the earrings at AA grade. However, the necklace is only available up to A+ and even if it was available at higher grades, it'd probably be a bit over my budget.

Is it okay for pearl earrings and necklaces to be different grades when worn together (i.e. AA stud earrings w/ A+ necklace)? Or would it look like they mismatch?

I'm sure you'll get lots of thoughts from folks here about it. My personal experience: I bought a pair of Mikimoto AAA studs and an A+ necklace and it wasn't until I quickly fell down the pearl rabbit hole and started learning more about them, really trying to understand grading, that the difference between the two became more obvious to me, and then it kind of bugged me. But I think I tend to be more weird and obsessive about that kind of thing (and that might be true of other pearl aficionados!).

Is the Mikimoto brand a requirement? (totally fine if it is! I have and love my Mikimoto pieces). Asking bc there are other vendors you could probably get very nice pearls for a better price from, and then have more luck matching the actual quality. That said, just keep in mind that exact matching after the fact could also be an adventure since even among the same grade, pearls can look different.

Anyway, I am not really sure this was helpful. Sorry! I think I would consider going a different vendor with the plan to get pearl earrings and eventually a necklace of the same grade; mention to them you would like to eventually get a necklace and hopefully they can help to match when you're ready to purchase that. Good luck! Pearls are such a lovely gift!

Depends on the person! Pearls are a fun thing for me, and not something I would actually put decent money in, so everything I own is super random.

But then there are people so are super sensitive and it would rankle on their soul.

Work out what type of person your wife is!
