Hello! I have recently ordered a ring with such a stone.
excelent gia cut.JPG
but when I tested it in HCA this stone shows results like this
HCA excelent.JPG
This upset me a lot. Please tell me it's better to cancel the order and look for another stone? I just don't understand why in GIA it's an excellent, but in HCA it's very bad. Previously, I was offered such a stone with GIA cut VG

And such a stone, which seems to be worse, shows a much better result in HCA

Thanks in advance for your help. =)

Unfortunately, GIA Excellent encompasses a very broad range of cut quality, some of which do not actually perform that well. I would pass on both of these stones.

I would look at stones with close to these parameters.

depth 60-62.4%
table 54-58%
crown angle 34-35 degrees (can go up to 35.5 if paired with 40.6 pavilion)
pavilion angle 40.6-40.9 degrees

Generally, a shallower crown angle will pair better with a steeper pavilion angle and vice versa.

Would you be open to buying online? If so, let us know your budget and country, and we can help you look.

I'm from Ukraine, I don't think it's possible to buy online. =( This ring is worth about $2.5k to me.
Color and clarity are not as important as cut grade?

Can you ask your jeweler to bring in some AGS0 stones? Those will be far better cut than the ones you've been shown so far.

Cut is what determines how sparkly the diamond will be. A well cut stone can help mask a lower color or clarity.

Here are some helpful videos that illustrate why cut quality makes such a difference.

definitely do not buy that stone. I would strongly suggest finding something better. As said above, GIA XXX is overly broad and encompasses stones that aren't well cut.

Any pictures of these new stones?

Unfortunately, they do not provide me with a photo, only a certificate.= (
I have checked them on the stonealgo site, they have some pics, but I don't know if they are relevant. For example:

My jeweler sent me several more stone options. Could you check what would be better?

https://www.gia.edu/report-check?reportno=2457053776 -gem2 -hca score 1

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not loving these options, but the second and third ones seem a little better than the others. Can your jeweler bring in AGS0 stones?

They sent me a few more options already with a video) Unfortunately, they cannot deliver AGS0 stones. =( I can't decide which one to choose. Will these inclusions be visible to the naked eye, or ignore them?

I like the second one best out of all the ones you've posted. I don't think the inclusions will be visible.

Agreed 100% - the second one looks great!

The stone also links arent working for me so I can only see the videos. Visually (without any info from a cert) I like the 2nd and 3rd much better than the first. I think the 2nd looks best.

Agree that stone 2 looks the best out of the ones presented. One of my concerns is the video makes it look like it has a brown undertone to it. Could be poor lighting/video setup. Just a reminder, that per GIA, they don't have to report brown undertones until you are K or lower.

I'd personally continue searching. Try targeting these parameters:

54-57 table
60-62 depth
34-35 crown
40.6-41 pavilion
75-80 lower girdle facets

Ensure there is an inverse relationship between the crown & pavilion angles. This means high crown with low pavilion (35/40.6) or vice versa (34/41). Classic Tolk combo is 34.5/40.8. While 35/40.8's fall in this criteria it's pushing the bounds a bit and will depend on cut accuracy. Seen enough bad images on that combo to be leery and suspect until it's proven to be a good performer.

Also, if your jeweler brings in a stone, do you have an option to evaluate w/o penalty? If so, you can bring in candidates and then buy your own ASET or idealscope to confirm light return. Just food for thought.
