brooches really struggle, they get a bit if a look in on the red carpet or at a big glitzy fashion show at times but apart from a few of us and some of our elderly grandparents, who wear's brooches on a regular basis?
Queen Camila (age 75) seems to be wearing less brooches now than when she was a Duchess although (Princess Anne (72) bless her, does continue to solider on in the brooch dept)
but now necklaces wearing is at risk ?????
ok so we seem to be heading into another bleak economic period so oppulance becomes bad manners (or makes you a target) for someone like the Princess of Wales, Queen of Spain etc but whats wrong with a simple pendent on a chain or a modest string of pearls
a bare unadorned neck is just sad in my book
especially if one is going out (of the house)

maybe i should ahve put this in show me the bling
but just, if you go out of the house today please wear a necklace, any necklace

I think, Daisy, it is wise to wear what you enjoy and love. The red carpet will never affect my choices, I love what I love.

I do think that many of us are getting older and don't want attention to all those neck life lines. I tend to wear boatneck, tee neck or slight scoop necks after years of exciting necklines. But I will continue to enjoy my necklaces on the occasions I feel they are appropriate. You be yourself, Daisy, that's the best person you can be.

No, not for me, however, it has to be the right piece for the right outfit at the right time.

A strand of blue Tahitian pearls is on my Bling Wish List, and I can think of a few other strands that I would like to have, like a strand of blue baroque Akoyas, etc. etc...

I don't like to wear anything around my neck when the weather is hot though.

DK :))

oh see i hate any fabric up around my neck
i grew up in the 70s and hated skivies (like Bert and Ernie wear)

this is a very polarising necklace (and i mean artistically not politicaly becausde it is that too because it was a gift from the saudis)
but i would just love to own this

i know what you mean
i can only wear chains with pendeants in the heat of summer
i find even a pearl braclete is too hot and sticky in the heat

but also PSers are into rings because we can see our rings while we wear them

this outfit just needs a necklace of some sort
a long one lie a suiter
yes i know HRH is on a school visit and a necklace would have gotten in the way

I wear my little heart pendant all the time.

I was wondering the other day if we’re seeing the PoW wear less jewellery, because of the hard times in the UK @Daisys and Diamonds. I think it’s a case of damned if she does, and damned if she doesn’t.

Maybe she has the rule not to wear a necklace if she wears dangly earrings. I think a small solitaire would look nice.

Well, many people are loving their "neck mess" array of necklaces so I don't think necklaces are going away. Maybe we are seeing a shift to more dainty styles of pendants and chains.

I will continue to wear my favorites as I am so far out of fashion it doesn't matter!

Me too! I wear a necklace every day..but they’re small.

Nooooo not even close! Well not for me anyway! I even wore my diamond pendant the other day because it flattered my dress.

Lil sis is always in a necklace!

I think they are still very popular. I never wear one but it's common.

I don't wear one because I don't have a long, thin, graceful neck that's youthful!

i was never a swan
but in other news this summer although uncomfertably hot cannot so far be as hot as last year as some of my 'summer rings' still feel too big
but give it time
its always hottest once the kids are back at school

Spouse wears one all the time. They don't get lost like earrings or bashed like rings!

How can they go away? As long as there are breasts, there will be pendants.

I wear my diamond pendant 24/7. Polo necks, boat necks, high necks, low necks. It’s so precious to me & I like to know it’s there.

I wear my diamond pendant every day too. Actually, don't take it off unless its to clean or put on my one longer diamond
pendant that goes better with higher necklines.

I wear one everyday. Mostly pendants but they are my favorite. Designing another and can’t wait to see it done. Many of mine have a special meaning and I think that’s why I wear one daily!

What do your pendants look like? No pun intended. :twirl:

I always have a necklace on! I think they are the perfect accessory to most outfits.

Even on days when I leave my engagement ring at home, my necklace and wedding band are the last 2 bits of jewelry I wear!

I haven't paid much attention to other people admittedly. I'm a Stay at home mom who mostly stays at home other than appointments and groceries. But I still wear a necklace every day. I did have to get a magnetic clasp though so it could get on and off more easily since the pendant is silver and synthetic opal and the chain is white gold and I need to take them off a lot so I don't get a rash.

I think necklaces read as more “fancy” so people tend to steer clear. You also have to be mindful of your neckline etc not all necklace lengths and styles work with all necklines. So I think those are reasons why people wear them less often on an everyday basis.

But at least for where I live most of the time for an “event” you will wear a necklace unless you’re trying to deliberately dress down. I wear necklaces almost always when I dress up, unless my outfit has a beaded neckline.
