Is the cavity a dealbreaker?

Hello,

I would love to get your PS thoughts on this stone. The size is delicious but if you look at the certificate, I believe there is a cavity on the edge. Could that be covered by a prong?

Do you think there are durability issues? I tend to see cavities as a red flag.

I’m thinking it would make a nice earring or pendant.

Thanks!

Easy peasy - it is also the last of 4 so the least contributive to the clarity of SI1 - probably not even visible to most people with a loupe.

Hi Garry,

Thanks for your reply! Am I correct that it’s the dot on the edge around “8 o’clock”?

Do you think it could be covered with a prong?

Do you foresee any durability issues even if it’s small?

It’s also really close to a feather. Not sure if that makes it riskier!

meh to many diamonds out there without the potential issues and diamonds are expensive.
For a one of a kind super special stone, maybe but a RB nah.
Insurance companies are getting more fussy on claims making stones with potentual isses even more risky.

Hi Garry,

Do you think it could be covered with a prong? only if the setter can find it
Do you foresee any durability issues even if it’s small? Sorry Karl, this is a non issue It’s also really close to a feather. Not sure if that makes it riskier!

I would pass, as unfortunate as it is given the cut.
