Hi there!

I'm buying a diamond for the first time and would love it if anyone could provide their expertise to determine if I'm getting a good price.

What would you value this stone at? I'm buying through a family connection who has given me a price of $8,000

Its not a well-cut stone. :confused2:

Do you mean in terms of the L/W ratio or is there something else about it that you're referencing? Any tips for evaluating them would be greatly appreciated!

Light return...there should not be that much black/gray in the Aset or idealscope images.

There should not be too many steps turned off (black) at the same time. Between the leaky steps and the black steps I think
this stone would be overly dark. We have a step-cut expert, @Karl_K . Lets see if he can take a look and tell you what exactly
is wrong with it.

Is your budget $8k?

You 100% nailed it about the vid and is/aset.

Yup, overly dark. I wouldn't buy it

there is a reason the price is $8K; look at the pic with the red and black in the stone.

It has 70.3% Depth ! .... >70 % is $$ discounted

The wealth of knowledge on PS never ceases to amaze me!

...

"Family connection" is always a red flag for me.
Conflict of interest.
