Is this 2.8 too much?

Hi! VVS2, H color, excellent cut, round, excellent polish and symmetry. I tried 2.5 and liked the look. I tried 2ct and thought I could go higher (I'm size 6 ring). 3ct was a little too much but manageable. I was deciding between 2.66 and 2.8 but the 2.66 got sold.

2.8 is now a better price than a lot of the 2.5s the seller has .10s .20s aren't huge differences, but I'm nervous 2.8 will be too big and ostentatious. Otherwise, I love the diamond. Thoughts? (not my hand below but it IS the diamond)

Love the size. You might want the cut vetted by the prosumers here. Do you have a copy of the cert? You probably want to run it through the HCA tool. There are loads of threads about how GIA grades 70% of their stones triple X. Better to check now before your purchase.

I think it is a very nice size on your hand! It has a good presence but imo doesn't look ostentatious.

People vary - so to some it would feel too small, to others it would feel too large.

If you feel it's too big, then it is.
If you feel it's not too big, then it isn't.

Yes, then there's DSS to consider.
IMO look to yourself for what's right, not others. ;))

Hallo, @indecisive230 - and welcome!

Even if you feel it's a tad large, in all likelihood you'll get used to it in a New York minute.

But more importantly - as @lulu_ma said - can we see the cert and help you out at all with the cut? I'm guessing it has a GIA cert that says it's an excellent cut - and that's a good start. But in the land of GIA, there is still a lot of leeway for it to be a poor performer as GIA's parameters are wide at best.

So, if you'd like it vetted, throw up a copy of the cert and we'll weigh in.

I had a 3.0 carat and it took me about 3 months to get used to it then I was fine
