Hello dear community,

I am newbie around here and I am so glad that I've found this opportunity to be in touch with such experienced people. Unfortunately I already bought this diamond which is currently on the way before I've found this forum and HCA grading tool. I would like to ask you at least now about your opinion on this particular diamond. My target was specified as 0.3cts diamond with 3EXs and great performance for my engagement ring. I am pretty new to diamonds but I've spend hours of studying the parameters and how do all those numbers and gradings work. I just didn't want to go to the first jewellery and buy some poor diamond with H-I, SI1-SI2 and pay for premium one.

I would be really glad if you could take a look on this and tell me your opinion. I paid $730, included shipping and any other fees.

Unfortunately this isn't a stone folks here would recommend. The proportions aren't great. What is your budget and preferred color/clarity? For a stone of that size, D-F will look the same to most people, and SI1 (eye clean) or higher is great.

Thank you very much for your response. I worried that it was a stupid buy. Well my budget was topped by $800 (shipping, fees and VAT to Czech republic included). I tried to look for premium parameters like D, VVS1/2 and 3EXs believing that it should be a guarantee that stone will look great. But still I guess that even through that proportions aren't great the diamond will at least still look decent?

No option to return it?

It will certainly look white and flawless but the cut is not the greatest. Most people think any diamond sparkles so I imagine most
will think it looks decent.

Something like this would have been a better cut and still very white and flawless...hindsight though.

Unfortunately 3x is too broad, and high color and clarity doesn't mean it will have good performance

This is MUCH BETTER

OK, thank you so much for recommendation. Unfortunately there is probably no option to return it. I will try to investigate options but I won it in auction so probably not much what I can do. But actually I think I got this diamond for good price with such parameters anyway so I will try to sell it on secondary market and buy the other one.

So this diamond you recommended me should have much better performance even for unexperienced eye?

Yes, the Whiteflash diamond will truly outshine the other one. All diamonds live and die on their cut performance.

Hello, Martin Triska!
Here is a great comparison video made by JannPaul (a highly respected super ideal cut diamond seller, just like Whiteflash) that will provide you a visual aid about the appearance of a truly well cut and proportioned diamond versus one that is not quite at that higher standard.

Thank you all guys! I got in touch with Whiteflash and I will order diamond based on your recommendations. I can't unfortunately return the previous one but I will keep it and compare with the other one from Whiteflash. I could also post you a video if anyone would be interested about that comparsion. I will most likely sell it after and keep the more sparkling one.

I'm so glad you'll be getting a significantly better cut diamond. I would love to see the comparison video!

We LOVE comparison videos … and we’re always sad about poor return policies.

Sir, thank you very much once again. I got in touch with Whiteflash already and I am about to close the deal very soon. Just one more question. I took a look on some other A CUT ABOVE diamonds Whiteflash offers and I ve found this https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-di...olor-vs2-clarity-round-ideal-cut-sku-a4516196

Could you please tell me which of these two is better? The previous one you showed me has HCA 1.1 and this I ve found has even HCA 0.9. Is there a significant difference? Or it doesn't matter. Thank you very much.

The HCA is more of an exclusionary tool. It's not meant for choosing between stones. Both stones look great and nearly identical to me. I'm not an expert, though, so maybe someone else will have an opinion about one stone over the other.

Yes you are probably right. I'm overthinking it too much. But if there is some difference which I can't see with my rookie eye I would appreciate any kind of comparison between these two. I will definitely pick one of them.

The two are so similar, no one would be able to tell the difference even if they were side-by-side. You can flip a coin. Or pick AGS-104119132019 for its marginally higher crown height (imperceptibly more fire).

Kim N said it...those two are so evenly matched that they are essentially carbon-copies (hehe) of one another.
Even the physical size measurements are identical.
Pick one quickly, because if there are lurkers abound, then one of them may scoop up both for a *literal* perfectly matched set of earrings.

@Martin Triska Agree with others, that the stones are so similar without seeing them in person there is just no way of knowing
that one might have something over the other. In cases like this, we usually get the buyer to ask the Sales Associate to look at
both of them and see if one "speaks" to them more than the other.

If one was less expensive I'd say go with that one but we don't even have that to fall back on.

You can ask for side-by-side pictures to see if one speaks to you.
