Omg. Really? Even if the peak is flat?
It looks like it comes to a point on top, like the culet of a diamond

No. It’s not a point. It is all flat.

Oh huh, OK I might be seeing an optical illusion. It reminded me of a faceted culet on the bottom of a diamond. I definitely don't see french cut

I just did a search. Maybe a rose cut emerald?

Looks older than what I know as a French cut.

I dunno, that looks like mildly flat pavilion meet points of a flipped stone to me, which makes sense if they were going for a domed rose cut. It's very pretty with the flat rose trillions.

I don’t know what it is but it’s very cool AND I hope you buy it so we can see it cleaned up and glorious.

No pressure or anything!

Domed rose is definitely a possibility!

It reminded me of these:

Now, don’t take this the wrong way (I know you are not a newbie and know your stuff) BUT are you sure it’s a diamond?! I have never seen a diamond that looks like this. It looks brownish gray on my screen is that how it looks IRL too? I am intrigued.

Yes. It is. Lol. Was diamond tested and is guaranteed to be a diamond.

Could it be table cut? I’ve never seen anything quite like it. Very unique.

I definitely would not call it a french cut, but whatever it is, it's interesting. Can't wait to see it all cleaned up.

This is such an interesting, and pretty, ring! Is the picture giving an optical illusion? Are those prongs that large, and practically reaching the table?

No it isn’t.

I realize that I didn’t answer the color question. Tbh. In certain light, it looks brownish gray for sure. I don’t know how much the yellow gold is affecting the color. Also, it reflects color a lot! The little mirrors. I plan to swing by my jeweler soon so that he can look it over bc idk if I can really trust a diamond tester and your comment got me thinking.

Oh no, I hope I don’t have you questioning yourself! I’ve just never seen anything like this before.

Oki!! Dropped by one of my other pawn shops and they are all natural diamonds! They tested using 2 different testers. The pawn called it a champagne diamond.

That ring is growing on me. "Anymore like you at home?"

Here she is! Deep cleaned and pics with DD’s iphone 15. Definitely a champagne color! My jeweler thinks it’s a rose cut or inverted asscher but would not be sure unless he unmounted it and I am not that curious, lol. Prob a .50 or 60, he thinks.

Ooh, but didn't she clean up nice!

What are the side stones?

Neat! Looks SOOOO much prettier now. Looks great with that band too!

she cleaned up very nicely. I still have no idea about the cut, but I'm not sure it matters. It's a great find.

It looks like a step cut stone with a faceted pyramid style table. A very unusual cut, but not a French cut. Cleaned up, it looks great!
