numbers and pic looks fine to me, though head on pic would be better - would want a pic of hearts if you want a H&A stone specifically.

I see GIA graded 1.3ct K IFs and 1.3ct G SI2s for +/-$7k, and GIA graded 1.3ct G IFs for +/- $12k on various vendors' virtual listings. Given that the market self-corrects decently and there are very, very rarely bargains to be had outside a secondary sale, well - make of it what you will

If you are interested in pursuing why not have it shipped to you, see what you think? Your eyes are the best judge.

Edited.

I've got to say, the picture is beautiful!

i live outside the US and will just come to NY for a few days in december. i need to buy the stone and have it delivered to my hotel. i dont have time for a lot of trial and error. unfortunately only the material i posted is available.
would it be safer to go with GIA/AGS only options?

not really the right question - the stone is the same stone regardless of what lab report it comes with.

The fact of the matter is that EGL is known to inflate colour and clarity compared to GIA and AGS, and EGL-graded stones are priced accordingly. Now cut, that is a totally independent matter, and this stone looks nice - so, if you are happy paying that price and getting the equivalent of a GIA I VS2 or J/K IF or whatever the proper 'correction' formula may be, then it could be a 'good buy' for you.

I would suggested looking at some EGL graded stones and GIA/AGS graded stones of various colour and clarity combinations, see where your sweet spot is so that you have a fair metric by which to judge this stone.

I just want to check that IF clarity is important to you, specifically? You pay a heafty premium and you cannot visually discern IF from VVS or even VS1 in most cases. Add to that the fact that EGL is known to be a little soft on clarity and it makes it even less "valuable" to me. If IF is really important then I would personally stick to the more reputable labs because then I would feel more confident in the IF rating.

Ditto Yssie on the lab reports.

The stone looks beautiful! The cut is such an important factor in the sparkle and light performance of a stone. Also a well cut stone will make it appear larger than a stone of the same size cut poorly.

Just keep in mine that EGL is looser on the grading, so this may very well be H-I and possibbly VVS1 as opposed to G IF. The pricing is probably in line with GIA stones in the VVS1-VVS2 H-I stones....

These are the only two stones in the "in house" diamond search feature that may be comparable to the actual grading of this stone if it were a GIa/AGS stone. These stones may be lower in color and clarity than your stone, but just so you have a ball park idea...

the pricing for these stones are around 7,000.... so that would be around the price point.

You should play around with this search feature so that you can educate yourself and have a good idea of what things cost and what you should be expecting to pay.

thanks for your reply.
is there a "standard" grade inflation for EGL vs GIA?
eg could we say that EGL normally inflate by 1 level? or 2 levels?

thanks a lot!

No, they are inconsistent, some labs are worse than others, which is also part of the problem.
