Hello
So I have had this ring for sale but no takers. I thought I would like an antique cluster but find I never wear it. It’s 1.6ctw (0.75ct centre and 8x0.1 sides).

So I have wanted a 7 stone band for a long time. Something like the CVB Norah. This would be a small version of it. Not sure it would work with 7x0.1ct stones? Anyone have thoughts on this size stones for the Norah?

Then I also love moi et toi rings especially diamond and sapphire. So the centre stone I would pair with the below sapphire to make either a simple ring or more elaborate.

I think I will wear both these rings more than I wear the cluster. But am I mad to continue to invest in this ring by splitting it into two - will I get the money back if I ever sell? Is it sacrilege to break up this antique cluster?

Thanks for your help!3D2D79A8-D249-485C-BFA4-3241979B73DB.jpegADEA4F65-9136-4A75-B53B-C2BE3C85FCE8.jpeg0A8AE075-E4F7-49DF-9AF1-15AB05A6B42A.jpeg9FBC965E-B09C-46D2-A3B6-FD950F210AA5.jpegAEEE6EE5-BF57-4A91-9D78-2C1A6FF2A89B.jpeg

I’d do it! Two for one - perfect.

I only have a comment for the Norah at 0.1ct I think the prongs would overwhelm the diamonds.

The toi et moi would look fantastic. I love it!

Absolutely! Do both!

I am all for re-purposing jewellery items that are unworn/unloved for whatever reason(s) into something that one can wear and appreciate.

So I too would say DO IT!

0.10ct diamonds are 3.0mm in diameter, so seven of them in a row would give you 21mm. To me that seems about the maximum length you would want so they don't extend down between your fingers.

DW has an emerald pendant with a halo of prong set 3.0mm diamonds that look just fine. The platinum prongs are miniscule and almost invisible, so likely set by a very skilled craftsman.

Better to invest into things you will wear, rather than accumulate things that will fill up a box.
My avatar is a 3mm, 9 stone on a size 6 finger. My 6 point prongs are more delicate than the Norah but I think it could work for you in any event and would look similar.

Completely agree with this. You don’t say your finger size but 2.1mm is almost exactly where I am across the top of my finger as a size 5. If you go with the Norah, Caysie’s prongs are delicate - I certainly wouldn’t worry about it overwhelming 3mm stones, but you could always talk to her about prong placement options too.

I'll just add that sometimes trying too hard to "make all the pieces fit" can be a costly mistake. Having jewelry custom made is expensive and secondhand jewelry usually doesn't sell for much and there's really no way around that.

So I wouldn't use the current ring or loose sapphire if it's just because they're what you happen to already own, or just because you aren't able to sell those items for a price you prefer. You could just end up with something else that isn't what you really wanted, after spending a lot more money to have those stones re-set in custom made rings.

I'd first consider if those stones are what you really want. If you were starting from scratch, would you purchase those particular stones for the rings you want to have made? And would the rings you're thinking about having made be what you'd want most if you didn't already have stones that would work with them?

If not, then I'd start over. Sell them for what you can get and start with stones that you do want most, and have the ring or rings made that you do want most. Or for a lower cost, look around for something that's secondhand or ready made.

I'm not suggesting that you NOT do what you're considering, but just that you be sure it wouldn't be throwing good money after bad.

I agree with @seaurchin. Don’t settle. When we do generally we end up not satisfied re bling.

Hold out for exactly what you want within reason. If you are confident you can get what you want by taking the ring apart then I think it’s a good move. But if you’re not sure I’d try selling your ring one more time.

I’m sorry I don’t know but did you list your lovely cluster on loupe troop? Perhaps consider lowering the price if you already have it listed. Consider consignment. Good luck!

Thanks - I agree I think!

Yes I was worried they might be too small too.

Thanks - I do like delicate so this sounds good

Thank you that’s really helpful to see the size. I like it!

Finger size 6.5 so a bit bigger but think it would work

Very good point and thanks for your view. I guess the things I am unsure of are the size of the stones for the 7 stone band (too delicate). But @ItsMainelyYou has reassured me with that issue.
second worry is the sapphire. It’s an 0.81ct unheated Sri Lankan sapphire. I don’t know anything about coloured stones so can’t tell if it’s any good. However I would get both the sapphire and diamond assessed and vetted before I put them in the ring so I think this would allay any worries. If they aren’t good enough I wouldn’t go ahead with the toi et moi

Thanks! I had it listed on loupetroop but had this brainwave

Thanks everyone for your help

Just throwing ideas into the mix, how about re-setting the stones in a bracelet/bangle, or a pendant etc...?

If the ring was mine, I would set the smaller stones as stud earrings, 4 each; and the larger stone in a pendant of some sort.

I think it’s a great idea! I’m personally not a fan of jewelry just sitting so if this gets the diamond some use I think it’s worth it.

I just saw your listing and want to suggest that maybe you get an appraisal since it’s pretty hard to tell anything specific about your cluster. Then I would take better pics—close up’s, different lighting, videos. Then I would adjust the price accordingly and be patient. Sometimes it has taken me up to a year to sell a ring! Finally, if I was in a rush to sell, I would drop the price by maybe half of the amount that you would spend if to reset. Resetting is not cheap—especially if you are thinking cvb. If stock or basic-still a lot unless you find a toi et moi and swap out stones. Finally—your cluster looks gorgeous! Why don’t you wear it? I would be more inclined to wear a cluster than a moi et toi—personally.
