Is this a good pink sapphire?

Very pretty colour, perhaps a slight window though? I''m not an expert so hopefully other will chime in on thjs one. Getting anything from EBAY is always a risk - there is a thread full of trusted vendors at the top of the coloured stones link. Hope you find what you need!

Its pretty. It does have a window, but there''s a chance that it might close up once its set.

That is a truly beautiful piece, you never see that color. I can't speak to the lab, but the cut looks good. Windows are very hard to avoid in colored stones, but that is a small one. The seller is one of Tan's handles, he is well liked around here and as far as I know, no one has ever been cheated, you can search another of his names on the forum, gemburionline, for more info.

As for the cert, if you ask him, he will send it to the lab or your choice and just bill you for the cost, which is usually between $20-40.

It is a nice color. That window is large. It fills the entire table and then some.

In all honestly, I don''t know why GRS thinks that''s vivid pink. Not to harp on labs, but I don''t get their color classifications on this and many other gems. To me it looks like it has a very strong purple component to the color. I personally would prefer a hot pink Mahenge spinel instead. It''s less money per carat and untreated.

Thanks for your opinions! (I''m really bad at identifying windows from photos).

I do really like the color but the fact that it does have a window puts me off...

I''ll keep looking for a pink cushion...

It does seem fairly purplish to me, but perhaps it looks more pink IRL, and that''s why its graded as a vivid pink. I have a ruby that often looks purple in photographs, but is really red IRL. It doesn''t look purple in any kind of lighting. Both the vendor photograph and many of the photographs that I had taken presented the color is predominantly purple, but I never, ever seen it look so purple in real life. Obviously, I can''t say if that''s the case for this gem. I''d email Tan for a description, and ask for extra pictures in various lighting conditions as well.

I can''t speak to the lab,

GRS is a very prestigious lab that grades coloured gemstones

That sapphire has a bay door, not a window. It takes up half the stone and is going to be dead right (devoid of sparkle) in the center, but at least it has good sparkle on outer edges of the stone. I agree that the stone looks purplish to me as well, but perhaps it is due to that specific lighting the vendor has used for the photography/video?

HD,
Speaking of labs, I know GRS is very reputable but I think I’ve seen their reports describe a red spinel or red ruby as pigeon blood red IIRC, which I thought is pretty odd and unexpected. It’s not something one expects to see from an established lab.

oh wells
i dont go by the GRS description. i depend on the visual for colour or a good description.
however GRS does great work for analyzing gemstones so i do hold their reports in very high regard =)
