Hi guys!

Is this a good spinel in your eyes? Its 1.27 carat neon pink burmese mansin spinel. I absolutely love the color, seller says its almost loupe clean with strong fluorescence. The price to me isn't bad, and seller can get lab report from Lotus or AIGS. I'm assuming the pictures were probably taken with a phone so I would not be surprised if the stone is slightly less saturated in person? Your opinions are appreciated, thanks!Screenshot_20211213-095522_Instagram.jpgScreenshot_20211213-095833_Instagram.jpgScreenshot_20211213-095415_Instagram.jpgScreenshot_20211213-095421_Instagram.jpg

Another one by the same seller, around 2ct appears to my newbie eye a great cut with no windowing. Way more $$$ but not bad as some others I've seen, maybe because it's neon pink and not a true red jedi. Pics are not great as they're screenshots from videos.Screenshot_20211213-111718_Instagram.jpgScreenshot_20211213-112156_Instagram.jpg

I like the first one much better

Same here, it's better for my wallet! Although second one looks much better in sellers video than my screen shot of it, it's still much more expensive as well.

Another one from a different seller. The second and third pictures are screenshots from sellers video. That half&half shadowing looks quite bad, is that usual for ovals?Screenshot_20211213-122523_Samsung Internet.jpgScreenshot_20211213-122237_Instagram.jpgScreenshot_20211213-122311_Instagram.jpg

First one isn’t as saturated. Depends what you prefer, more saturation or not.

Yes I've noticed that too and I like very saturated gems. It looks so good in all the videos and now I'm torn between the two again

The first one you posted is the best looking of the bunch. In person, I'd expect it to be a much softer, less vibrant pink.

Sadly, it's really common with ovals, sometimes even with precision cuts. How much of a perfectionist are you? I am much more forgiving because in all honesty, my budget normally demands it. I prioritize color.
I do like the 'candy crystal' quality of the material of this last one. And I do love a reddish pink.

This is one of my red spinels, she has extinction despite her precision cut. I just don't care though, because her color sings for me.

I like the first one more too! I like how clean it is. It would be nice in a angular setting. The second one is also gorgeous, it would be ideal in a glamorous halo. What kind of setting are you envisioning?

Your ring is lovely :) And as for the shadowing on ovals, it would depend on how bad it is for me. I understand it would shadow to some degree probably no matter what and I'm fine with it, however in that video it was almost completely half dark. Not sure if its because of camera or not. Seller isn't the most responsive either so I'm ruling that one out for now.

They are different cutting styles it seems to me, first one is more clean and second is possibly more sparkly. Both are eye clean so that's a good thing. I've asked seller to send photos side by side so I could see the difference better. I'm not sure of the setting yet but a halo for the second one for sure!

That's the right way to make the final decision. Colour of the first might not be the better of the two but something about that cut and shape appeals to me.

Too purple.

The seller has sent me more videos of them (attached are all screenshots, not great quality sorry). The cushion#2 is a little more pink than elongated#1. The cushion is so pretty, but has a very slight chip on the girdle, seller says its very shallow. How bad does it negatively impact the stone, could it be fixed with a polish? What do you all think, any opinions would be appreciated, thank you!Screenshot_20211214-223811_Instagram.jpgScreenshot_20211214-223823_Instagram.jpg

Looks like the elongated cushion has a bit of an orange modifier while the more classic cushion looks like it has a bit of a purple modifier. That chip on the girdle wouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker if the price is right. I don't see that stone being excessively shallow, so I'm surprised by that comment

Sorry I meant that the chipping is shallow, not the stone. Stone appears very well cut, except for the tiny chips and nips around the girdle. Because of that I'm a little hesitated on the price. I do like the cushion better in terms of color personally.

Okay, so the price of the cushion is $5k, size is over 2ct. Price isn't cheap but I think it isn't bad because I've seen way more expensive ones that are much smaller. But then again maybe those ones are a bit on the redder side. I am however a little concerned about the chips, as I don't have much experience with colored gemstones. Do you think the price is fair?

Are those nicks and chips visible from the top down view? Note that these cannot be polished off. The stone has to be recut and you will lose some face up size.

Oh god no. Don't buy that. NO way

The classic cushion is 5k? Or the elongated one?

They aren't visible from the top view. I would not want to buy to recut

That stone isn't worth that with the damage. THe reason they're selling it as-is is that it should be recut, but doing so would sacrifice weight. It should be priced according to the after-recut weight

You're right, and it's just going to be headaches.

Also eyeing this one from yavorskyy. They offered me a very generous discount but its so small only 1ct! The color must be mindblowing for original $10k price!:eek2:Screenshot_20211215-124051_Instagram.jpgScreenshot_20211215-123957_Gallery.jpg

I'd also recommend reaching out to Gil Yuda https://www.instagram.com/gilyuda/?hl=en

I see him post with more affordable prices every now and then. I follow Yavorsky and they seem to get great stones but definitely hit or miss - the cuts especially really vary in quality

I really like the one on the left

The color and size is my ideal. However with the chips I would need a decent discount from the seller to justify the price, and I'm not sure he's willing to do that. He says they usually just ignore it. I would want to recut it probably, it's just too much hassle for me
