Hello everyone, just recently I picked up this stone, and I tried to check similar ones on the internet but couldn't find much. In my opinion it looks like a meteorite, heavier than it looks, weighed 1000g before I broke it down due to curiosity. I broke it into three pieces so far, tried to break it with a normal harmer but it wasn't possible so I went on and 20201214_001853.jpgbought the big rock harmer, and finally after a number of tiring hitting, it cracked... Long story short I think it's a unique stone, would like to know if anyone here has a clue on what it is. please check the attached pics and tell me what you think. It is so magnetic, and so metalic, interior is porous, super shinny, and rusty. Most of you might say it is lava, but I have lava samples too, at least I believe they are lava, funny part is that I live no where close to any volcano.. 20201214_005302.jpgThis is a Pic of the lava I picked up too for comparison. Waiting on your opinions.. I got a number of weird stones.. Will post more next timeIMG-20201102-WA0037.jpegIMG-20201102-WA0034.jpeg20201123_220724.jpg20201123_210052.jpg20201123_210052.jpg20201123_205755.jpg20201123_205214.jpg20201123_205725.jpg

Might be. It's a shame you broke it with a hammer if it is.

Since this is a forum dedicated to natural diamonds you may not get as much helpful feedback as you might if you post this to the appropriate forum. You can ask the moderators to move it.

Thanks, I tried looking for the right forum and couldn't actually find one, at least I'm getting feedback here..

Is a magnet attracted to it?

It looks volcanic to me.
If it was a meteorite you destroyed the value by splitting it.

Hi Karl, I found a link that has a similar piece but not sure if the website is legit.. I know this forum is for diamonds, I'm really sorry if I'm bothering anyone...https://aerolite.org/product/lunar-nwa-11303-363-7g/20201214_041912.jpg

Thanks for posting this it has been fun researching it.
I think its probably iron-oxide of one sort or another but im not a geologist or a meteorite expert.
Lets us know what you find out!

Another question was it near train tracks or where train tracks used to be?

Not really, I actually found it on the road, dirt road... in East Africa-Rwanda and there are no railroads constructed yet.. Thanks for keeping up Karl..
