Is this a ridiculous price for 2 nights?

We thought we''d found the perfect place for our 2 night mini-moon in Victoria. It''s a five star boutique hotel that''s SO CUTE! I found out they were having an early booking bonus rate, so FI and I really started looking at prices.

It would be $848 CDN for 2 nights in the honeymoon suite, plus $330 CDN for the ''romance package'' which includes a $100 dinner, massage, some other small stuff. Plus ~$100 for a ferry up there.

We were so sure about it, but now it sounds reallllly extravagant. They have less expensive rooms that would make it about $200 less, plus the exchange rate would knock off another $100 or so. Still...would you do it? We''re looking to take our actual HM in Spring 2010.

Oh wow!! The hotel/inn looks so romantic and elegant!! Truth be told, I think the price is really reasonable considering it''s the honeymoon suite and that it''s in Victoria! I looked up tripadvisor for you, and the reviews are fantastic.

That said, I''m not sure if I would spend that on a 2 day mini-moon. I mean, you guys could go to a tropical place for 4-5 days all inclusive for that amount (900+300+100). If it was your real honeymoon, I would think yes without a blink!

I have to agree with kama...pricewise, it''s probably more than I would spend for a weekend mini-moon, and you may find a better deal at an all-inclusive. I am a lover of all things BC though (seriously, I''ve been scheming to move to Vancouver for years!), so I am leaning more towards splurging.

If you have the $$ and want to do it, go for it. We''re going on a mini-moon to FL and paying around $380 a night plus we''re going to have to pay for a rental car.

Hey Sunny D - I am from Victoria, so anything you need to know about my gorgeous city you can ask me...

That is pretty pricey, but it has good reviews.

Have you checked this place out: http://www.villamarcopolo.com/victoria-bed-and-breakfast-gallery/ I really wanted to stay there for my wedding night, but it was all booked up

It is a little less expensive, not a whole lot, but in my opinion way more gorgeous! Great location too. I am going to stay there for my one year anniversary instead!

Hmmm... well I just looked and found the level down from the HM suite for $632. Marginally cheaper. You guys are right, time to look for other options.

Honestly, I never think it''s worth spending a huge amount extra for ''honeymoon suites'' or similar - unless of course you intend to spend most of the time in there...

Location is worth paying for, amazing food also, but I would pay a lot extra for a room you are going to mainly see (or rather not see) in the dark...

DOTD!!! I love you!!! LOL, that place is beautiful!!!

Those are cool too, thanks for the recommendations. I really love the thought of a B&B, just because we''ve never stayed in one, and they always seem so romantic.

I think that''s too high for two nights. We always go with less expensive hotel options and nicer places or longer vacations. I do sometimes wish that we''d go all out, but I''d rather do that if we have more money later in life.

Depends on what is most important to you. If you want the suite experience, it is fine--they are always going to be expensive. But, if any room would do, I would go to one of the places DOTD suggested and not get the suite. You could have some amazing meals if you stayed in a regular room, instead.
