Most unusual that anyone would actually admit to smuggling.
I just don't know how I feel about this?????

One one side, I don't like employee's stealing - on the other side if they are being taken advantage of, and they can make some money on the side?
Really bad - this is creating smuggling and avoiding the taxes that legitimate governments would collect when officially exporting diamonds under the Kimberley Process.
Personally bad is these diamonds will find their way into the pipeline and I may end up unwittingly being a buyer.

I suppose the harsh government regulations are getting to everyone presently (especially in the present economic environment)..., we know KP is not really relevant so much (as per present social requirements)..., the world is changing and so is human behavior!! So no..., definitely not appalled when I understand survival is becoming a necessity as it seems..., especially in these neck of the woods...

What's next..., abandoning the banking systems and return to cash transaction? Humans will want to regain control of their lives, again!!!

Governments around the world including the US are moving to eliminate cash to prevent just that.
They just need another 20 years to do it here.

Perhaps..., just have a hard time seeing western governments play along..., but if the Western world loses its superiority then I am with you 100% -- and diamonds might regain their historical importance as well..., in the mean time, the eyes are on Russia!!

Actually it fueled a whole bunch of various organizations that most are still cannibalizing the already non-existent profits of the historic diamond industry...,
in most of the times such schemes became a lose-lose for the industry at large except for a bunch of individuals profiteering on an complete invented by-product service!!
And presently 2023..., these sort of services are hugely destructive to otherwise fragile communities.

Charles Taylor was one of those crooked leaders who was brought to justice.
He enabled snuggling through his country and helped sell diamonds even though they had no mines in Liberia.
I found an old letter from Alexander Downer who went on to be Prime Minister of Australia last weekend.
He thanked me for whistle blowing on a scheme to snuggle diamonds via diplomatic bags.
