Is This Diamond Set in a Crooked Way?

It appears to me that the diamond is tilted a bit to the left. Is it just me or...? I tried my best to take some pics but this is best I could do. Help is appreciated in advance.tempImageoE0zw1.pngtempImageS5pAAG.pngtempImagelhMQdf.png

It does look like it’s tilted a tad..?

Are the prong seats cut well? It’s not a technical problem if the stone is secure, I think, because it’s such a slight offset, but it bothering you is sufficient reason to take it in for an inspection...

I would agree with Yssie. If it is sound in the setting no worries but if the crooked look bothers you, have your jeweler look at it.

Thank you, guys. It is a WF stone and their four-corner chain so I do believe it is set securely but I wanted to re-assure it is not just me who sees the slight tilt (my eagle eyes and OCD do not pair well in this case ). I might contact them to see what they say.

Would the light reflection be impacted by the tilting? - in other words, would it sparkle less due to tilting?

I see it too!

Won't sparkle less... just possibly in a different direction :loopy:! haha

Certainly looks crooked to me. I’d want it checked to make sure the stone is secure, and really - for it to be fixed.

Thank you for your responses. I am glad I was not the only was seeing it. I will contact WF to see what my options are. It is hard to part with the necklace as I planned on wearing it but I would like it to be straight and safe, too.

I wouldn't tolerate that level of tilt in a pendant. I'd definitely contact them for resolution.

Definitely crooked. They should fix it for you.
Very pretty stone!

Hi @daisygrl,
I'm sorry for your concerns about the way the diamond is set. We will be happy to send you a prepaid, insured FedEx label so that you can get the piece back to us promptly. We will inspect it carefully for any tilt, and adjust it accordingly.

We want YOU to be fully satisfied, even if it is something that may seem minor to others.

Thank you for getting back to me @Texas Leaguer . I already emailed my SA with pictures to see if it is really something "minor" as I do not want to part with the necklace (it is very beautiful) but I feel like this might need to get fixed - as others suggested on here. I am sure she will get back to me tomorrow and we can go from there.

If there is a slight tilt, it is not minor if it bothers you. And it would be something we can easily correct. So it is an issue we want to address. But I am not sure we can make any determination from the photos. We would need to carefully inspect the piece.

That said, I don't think you need to worry about the security of the diamond in the setting. So if you would prefer to send it back at a later date, that can also be arranged. Your concern has been duly noted in your customer record.

And thank you for your purchase.

Yes, it’s tilted.

I see things like this fairly often and, not to sound self-serving, but this is one of the big reasons to use independent appraisers. craftsmanship details like this are usually easy to fix, and good jewelers like WF are happy to take care of it immediately and for free, but only if you tell them. If you don’t notice, it doesn’t happen. If you have someone else work on it, you will void your warranty. If you wait a year or three, it gets much more problematic. I have yet to see a seller written ’appraisal’ that notices this sort of thing. I’m not really picking of WF here, they should have picked this up in their final QC check, but its a common sort of issue. Everybody faces it. it’s not so much a defect as an incomplete job, and it’s not as nor so much a repair as finishing the work.

Thank you, Neil, for your thorough response. You really summed up excellently what I have only thought. No matter who does the job, I would never let someone else fix it for the reasons you mentioned.
