So, I've been stressing about the dress I'm wearing to a wedding in a week and a half. Yes, it's already purchased so I can't really do anything about it now. BUT I would like to hear opinions to make sure it's not too casual for the wedding. I know the bride and groom won't notice, but as I'm meeting a good chunk of my boyfriend's family for the first time I do want them to think that I'm capable of dressing myself appropriately. I've got my outfits planned out for the picnic the day before and the brunch the day after (I figure dressing up a little is better than showing up and being too casual), but I just want to hear somebody's opinion on this dress that a) isn't my mother (let's face it, she's biased) and b) has weddings on the mind. Since all of my friends are early to mid 20s and not married or planning a wedding, I figured you ladies are my best bet for an opinion. So what do you guys think about this dress? It's for an afternoon, indoors, black tie optional wedding.

Thanks for your help!

ETA: Yikes, sorry it's ginormous! I don't know how to resize on a Mac...

I think it''s lovely!! And quite appropriate given that it''s black tie optional............you would look very nice next to a suited man.

However, if your boyfriend is wearing a tux...maybe something longer would be better?

He''s wearing a very well cut black suit. If he were going to buy or rent a tux, I probably would have gotten something longer.

I think gold is a lovely color, but I can''t tell how long it is from that pic? If it stops above the knee, I''m not sure it would be considered appropriate for a black tie optional event... especially by your BF''s older family members, who may have different expectations than your younger friends!

But as long as it falls below the knee, I''m sure it will be fine..... have fun!

It falls just below my knee. I really really hate my knees, so that was a must!

Ok, another question...what colour tie won''t clash with this? My boyfriend can''t figure it out and I can''t come up with a good colour.

That dress looks beautiful!

As someone who worried my guests will be dressed too casual to my wedding, I would be happy to see that dress on one of my own guests.

The more luxe-looking fabric, plus the sparkle on the straps make it perfectly appropriate for the wedding you are going to.
Because the wedding is in the afternoon, the length is perfect too! A longer dress might be too much.

You will be lovely!!

I heart it. It''s Grecian-Glamorous but not over the top!

I think it is appropriate. As long as YOU feel comfortable in it. If you don''t, it will show.

Another vote here for definitely appropriate. Great choice, princess! I think the combo of the fabric and length is perfect for an afternoon BTO wedding.

I love it! And as we get older, black tie doesn''t always mean you have to wear a longer dress. It''s beautiful. As far as a tie goes, he could maybe find a gold one or one with gold tones in it. I think that would look great. Black is also always an option..

I think that it looks great! I would definitely wear it to a wedding.

Thanks ladies!

I''m glad it is appropriate and that I didn''t have to tell you my whole dress sob story for you to say, "Yeah, that''s fine." I love it, I don''t have to defend it, and I can dance all night! Woo hoo!

Btw, one of the best things you guys can''t see in this photo is that the eyeshadow I''m using makes my green/hazel eyes turn the exact same shade of green as the dress. I''m pretty excited.

I love that dress!

Another vote for I''d wear a dress like that to an occasion as you''ve described.

I like it! If it falls under the knee, yes I would consider it appropriate.
