Is this emerald cut too “shallow”?

Hello again everyone,
With all the information on this forum, I thought I had navigated my way to a lovely emerald cut, but then saw it’s depth of 59.3% might mean it’s too spread out for good light performance. My eyes say “shinyyyy” but buying online has me nervous. Am I missing something?

It is small enough that it might look just fine to nearly everyone. If you go for a deep cut one, a far more common item, the stone will be smaller in visual size. It is a trade off that you might consider. The diamond locks very nice on the BN site. Maybe you placed it on hold.

Yes I was about to purchase it and then cold feet! It’s on hold for the moment. Thanks for your insight.

I did not look at the listing you linked to- but in general.....
In my experience.....it's simply not possible to downgrade an emerald cut due to 59% depth.
I've seen many Emerald cuts at that depth that were awesome- and large for the weight.
I've also seen 59% deoth doggies: But I've seen doggie 65% depth stones as well.....

It looks like an alright depth because of the elongated length:width ratio. I don't see any glaring issues beyond the ratio that I don't like.

Its worth an in person look with in the return policy.

Enough with the people who know what they're talking about.
I think it's very very nice, something's flashing all the time . It's spready for its weight and if it looks like the video, will make a long elegant ring.
If you can return it, have a look.

preach it! lol

Thank you for all your input guys. The comment about the ratio made me realize I actually prefer them tubby….I ended up buying this one instead. Now to wait

A good shallow stone means more finger coverage - I’m shallow like that!

I think, without benefit of education or experience , that a squat emerald cut can be off the charts beautiful. What's the depth on that rascal?
Please keep us updated.

I am slightly worried the 0.68ct I picked is going to suffer from “flat top” syndrome. She is on the opposite spectrum, 68.6% depth/67% table.

But she just spoke to me and if it doesn’t work, I can just box her up and ship her back…. :(

So I ended up falling down a rabbit hole of crown angles and canceled the order. So now I’m back to where I was a couple of weeks ago…gah!!! :???:

The si1 crystals are going to be eye visible in both of those.

Karl…. They’re both the same stone:)

Thank you. You are right, the inclusions are not great.
