Is this leaky/windowing? Nervous about it

Hey there,

Just got the ring in the mail. I’m worried about the windowing in my diamond. It has a hidden halo and I feel like normally windowing is look directly through the diamond.

With this diamond it seems to be reflecting or show the hidden halo through it at an angle instead of showing the band.

I’ve read so much about emerald cut diamonds recently that I don’t know if I’m over thinking this or if it’s a deal breaker for anyone here.

Overall it does have a good shine, but at certain angles seeing the hidden halo reflected worries me. What are some thoughts ? Also thank you so much

I know next to nothing about the emerald cut. BUT I will say that I have two emerald cut stones the same size...one of them also shows the band through the stone and it bothered me a lot! The other one did not have that problem so i do result the problem being due to a lesser cut.

It is difficult but not impossible to find well cut EC lab diamonds. A well cut EC will not be see through at all. In the image you provided I can see your skin and the setting clearly through the diamond. That is areas of leakage. It will make the diamond look generally less sparkly than a well cut stone. If you want to hunt for such a diamond you can post images here and people can help you assess the cut quality. But if you compare just with the one you have it should be obvious. The stone should have more life and you won't be able to see through it.

Can you go somewhere with well cut ECs to compare to see if its worth it to you? Tiffany often had large well cut ECs, or Harry Winston. You could go look to see what a well cut EC can look like.

EDIT: That kind of setting also makes me very nervous bc the stone is set very high and only a little bit of metal connecting to the shank. One good knock an the head could pop right off.
