Hi all. Firstly I'm appalled by the size of these. Secondly, under room lighting, they look like nothing and these were taken in natural lighting.

is this normal? And are they natural? I'm at a loss for words

Sorry, however, can't tell based on just a couple of photos alone.

Where did you buy it and how much did you pay for it? How big is the stone?

Etc. etc...

Hopefully, with more information, the experts on here may be able to make an educated guess.

DK :))

Yep, like said above
Cannot comment much without more information as to what you were expecting.
can you share the listing photos /information?
Block out the vendor name if you wish.

Size should be as stated, meaning the mm size should match whatever the vendor is selling. If it is advertised as 7 mm, it should measure 7 mm. Size will vary on any gemstone even if they have the same carat weight due to the design and cut of individual stones.

Based on the color, cut and clarity of these stones, I think these are natural spinels. The purple/gray one is a trendy color, though the stone seems to be suffering from extinction in the middle. I'm guessing the seller's photos showed the stone in extremely favorable if not enhanced lighting conditions. It's one of the things you learn to look for and notice as you become a more experienced buyer. I hope the stones were not particularly expensive, but I do not believe they are fake.

I doubt they're fake. They look like grey spinel to me.

They are synthesizing grey spinel these days, but I think they are natural.

It’s not clear what you are disappointed by, so maybe including the vendor pictures would be good so we can see the difference. I assume the vendor has a return policy? If not, then take it as part of your learning journey I guess.

Hi all thank you for your replies . I'm upset because..

1. The grey one is like 5mm. 1.3 carats. Super small. Is it normal? I bought for 60usd.

2. I have to go under natural lighting to take this photo. So yes, I guess the seller used really great lighting in the photos.

How deep is the stone? With CS, sometimes a stone needs to be cut deep for it to look good face up.

Were the weight and dimensions stated on the listing for you to check before you made the purchase?

If they were stated, and the stone measures up to those dimensions, then you got what you purchased.

Perhaps you need to have a ruler with you when you browse in the future as a sanity check/guide.

5mm is small on big hands and fleshy/chubby fingers, however, it is not small on small hands and slender fingers.
