I just replaced my half ct. center with a .90. Assuming I would need a new head. Instead, the jeweler made the current head work. I just noticed today when I louped it, how it actually looks. Is this safe for my diamond?20220623_122444.jpg

What metal? What shape stone?

The head is platinum. I called the sales associate to see if the jeweler finished the prongs in platinum or gold. She is supposed to ask him and let me know. The diamonds are round. My avatar is the ring.

Its unconventional but hmmm
The only other option is a remake as it does not have a separate head.
Its not something I would do or have done to my wifeys rings.

Oh me, that's what I thought. Thank you so much for your expert advice.

I feel like the stones dont fit in the head anymore. I would want them to get a new head or even ring. What they did doesnt look stable to me

Note that @Karl_K is right that you cant get a new head for the center bc there isnt a separate head. So it would have to be a new ring.

When I paid that, I assumed the workmanship would be good. That's what I get for assuming.

Not your fault at all!!!! I wouldn't ever assume they'd shove a larger stone into the same head. That just makes no sense

Now I'm leaning more toward a simple solitaire.

I think that would be lovely. You can also look at the amazing set from a PSer (trying to remember who right now). But it's a solitaire and a 'wrap' that turns the solitaire into a 3 stone. It's amazing, done by david klass.

we could be long lost sisters
sad sigh

im sad this has happened, i hope you can get it sorted

Heres the thread of the solitaire/wrap combo I was talking about.

I love the wrap idea! The best of both worlds! Thank you for sharing the link!!

@Angie3 -

The setting is a mess now, that's for sure.

However, I wouldn't let it push me away from having a three stone setting. Those proportions are lovely for a three stone, and it would be such a treat to see it reset with a more elegant shank, claw prongs, and a lovely curved profile between the three stones.

I think it would look lovely on your hand, whereas a solitaire might seem to get a tad 'lost in the wash'.

I hope this process ends with you and a ring you adore - good luck!

ETA. Do you have the stats for all three stones? We'd love to know!

@ mrs-b, I only have a GIA cert on the center diamond. The other two are appx .25 Leo's that I've had forever. If I remember correctly, they are G in color. 16560726859968961347949322029078.jpg16560727956345750525409986654065.jpg16560726859968961347949322029078.jpg16560727956345750525409986654065.jpg

Didn't mean to post twice. I'm still trying to find my way around here again. Lol
