Is this pear diamond pendant too big for everyday wear?

I’m working with a local jeweler to try to create my “one that got away piece”, an antique pear diamond pendant necklace”. Here’s the original thread about the piece:

And for those who just want to save time and cut to the chase, here’s the pendant I’m trying to get my jeweler to copy:

The piece I’m trying to copy measures 14mm for the diamond drop alone. I’ve cut out the exact dimension of the original piece using white paper (sorry, I do not have photoshop chops to recreate the pendant superimposed on me) and awkwardly placed it on my chest to model (complete with a lumpy
sweater, it’s the pre-Thanksgiving marathon, mom life with a toddler):

Try to visualize it with a simple chain. Is it too big/blingy a piece for every day wear which is what I’m aiming for? If so, how much smaller should I go for the pear? 10mm? Less? If it helps, I’m 5’2”, size 0.

And for those with every day pear pendants—please do share specs and real life perspective photos!

If this is any additional help, I found a similar pear diamond with the same dimensions of around 14 mm long and 8 mm wide and it’s about 4 carats, here it is on a mannequin:

Not too big at all! It looks beautifully proportioned on you.

I think the size is perfect for you. The original pendant is stunning, I hope your jeweler will be able to craft a beautiful reproduction of it.

It's a great size on you, IMHO, however I am in camp of go big or go home, and am hoping to replace the much-loved 1in/25mm (excluding the bail) diamond paved puffed heart pendant that I sold when I needed the money a few years ago.

DK :))

I think that it looks perfectly proportioned and beautiful on you. There are no rules when it comes to such things. It all depends on how you feel and what is your taste.
I am 5'7'' and when my children were very young and i had to run behind them, change diapers, bathe them every night, etc, i felt that i needed some sparkle around my neck but something that was so light and small that i didn't even feel it was there. I wore 24/7 a diamond cluster pendant, which sparkled like crazy and it had a diameter of only 6mm. I couldn't do any bigger than that during that time.
But if you think that you will feel comfortable wearing a bigger pendant, you should go for it!!! I don't think that it looks big at all. I think it looks amazing!!!

Personally I think it’s a great size and not too big at all! And the pendant is beautiful!

Go for it!
