Maybe you go twice the day before... or go in early order more to get you through...I just want you to be prepared. After work you need to make other arrangements.

Read Here and post you ideas on the best way for all of us to unite and prepare. United front.

Oh no, my withdrawls are starting already!

I can''t believe they are closing EVERY store down...eesh that day is going to be dangerous!

Thanks for sharing!

Well gee, considering I don''t work outside the home at the moment, and, the nearest one is 25 miles away....I''m good.

And bless you little heart sweetie, you don''t feel well today?

I so hope you get better...real soon. If I were there at the Del...I would bring you the best little lunch and pamper you...you''d feel better much faster! Maybe some Moo time creamery goodness...or somethng from the Corvette Diner...you just name it!

Uh-oh, thanks for the warning DKS!

I think I will have to visit Sbux first thing Wednesday morning to make sure they really WERE training and not just conspiring to shake up the world.

I''ve discovered McDonald''s Iced Coffee and as much as I hate McD''s I love their Iced Coffee (and its SOOOOOOO much cheaper than Starbucks).

i doubt closing all the stores and traiining for 3 hours will turn it completely around. i think the purpose of doing that is to get a message out to us saying they care and are trying to better themselves!

if they really want to improve, then they should provide training on a regular basis, even if it''s a refresher course or something.

i don''t drink starbucks on a reg basis, so i''m ok during the 3 hour closedown.

I''ve been eyeballing McDonald''s iced coffee machine for a while. Maybe should check it out soon. It''s really cheap!

wow what a great marketing ploy!!

3 hours won''t right all the sbucks wrongs, but it''ll make a wee dent.

however...it''s the ''thought'' that counts though for sbucks lovers. that goodwill they are generating is going to go farther than any $$$ they will lose in the 3 hours of being closed.

think about the press this will get.

think about also how many people who might have left sbucks disgusted previously will return just to ''see'' if anything changed.

genius.

I can handle 3 hours...3 DAYS, not a chance!

There is always Peets, Dunkin, or Coffee Bean, my personal fave but not on the East coast!

I hope it really does improve things. I really dislike their coffee, but go in for tea and stuff.

Not at all to trivialize those whose lifeline is in danger....I''m incohernt without coffee in the morning trust me....but...
I''m going to be the lone voice ice COLD coffee when I say....SO WHAT??? I''ve been making coffee at home alot more recently (I order Gevalia, which is some pretty fine coffee), PLUS...I drink Panera coffee when I''m out. (I realize that not all places have them, but their hazelnut is absolutely killer)

If this will help Starbucks quit churning out what I consider to be coffee that to me, tastes uniformly BURNT, no matter what variety or drink it''s in, then I might actually patronize them.

They really do have nice stores though, and a pleasant staff. I always enjoy the decor when I go in with friends....

Karen, My husband won''t drink anything hot. So he has no clue what coffee tastes like. But he too says it smells BURNT. Then he goes a step further and says it smells like SKUNK. Which I really have to give him credit for pulling that aroma out of memory...but he is right. You have to close your eyes and forget the atmosphere etc. Dig deep and you too will smell skunk.

Mara you are right. They will drum up more interest.

I think it would be fun to watch the patrons leave as they close the doors for that short of period of time...and then watch as the regulars come up and pull on the door. Then they will cup their hands to the glass...and bang on the door because it is obvious the crew will be making coffee...the patron won''t bother to read the sign...just leave in a huff not understanding. I think I might get two venti''s and sit in the parking lot...free entertainment. But I am a cheap date.

Hey, our mall has a starbucks (booth type thing) out in the open...there are no doors...wonder how they will handle that? Rope it off like a crime scene?

The iced coffee at McDonalds in hazelnut is really good. Hubby treated me one day. It is loaded with sugar, I am sure because to me it was really sweet. (I didn''t expect it to be presweetened as I avoid sugar...) really unexpectedly extraordinaire.

OMG! If I don''t have a daily Caramel Hazelnut Macchiato I''m not the same person. And now that I''m student teaching, it''s like one of the highlights of my day. Those poor students in my first period class . . .

What a marketing ploy.

If everyone could learn how to make good coffee in THREE wee hours, I''d get my BF - oops, FI now! - to work at Starbucks for three hours and make our own everyday! He''s already got the "good service" part down, so maybe it should take even less. LOL

I gave up on their coffee long ago and get the Horizon Chocolate Milk packs. Soooo much yummier, and better for you anyways! When I need serious coffee, I head over to Seattle''s Best, which I seriously think we''re lucky to have. And if only we could get Caribou in our little "city"!

I have to admit though, like SDL says, their seasonal mugs are killer cute! How about posting our Starbucks mugs, just to keep up busy for the three hours they''re closed? I''ll start!

I can''t find my camera anywhere! I haven''t seen it for about a month now... i should really start looking for it. . . Here''s a cam shot of one of my staple mugs, which conveniently happened to be sitting by for my morning - what else? - coffee.

ooh i love starbucks mugs. the best part is when you wait til their seasonal go on sale and snap them up at 50% off. i have some great gold and purple star holidays ones...unfortunately i am too lazy to take a picture of them but maybe later.

I love their mugs too!!! Here''s one I received last year that I''m using this morning to fight the winter blues:

(Good idea, onvacation!)

OMG onvacation that''s my favorite mug too!!! It''s the best size. I have a set of the same pink and grey color.

Mara...it is a genius ploy indeed! I worked at Starbucks while I was still in school, and the baristas in our store were CONSTANTLY under training. If a barista did anything wrong, even if it was one too many pumps of syrup...the shift supervisor would point it out. That''s just the way our store operated. I really loved working there. I learned so much about coffee. We also had one of the older espresso machines, not the new automatic ones. The old ones gave forced us to monitor the length of every shot...giving a much better taste. The new ones are so weak if it''s not calibrated properly. Over the course of a day, the machine can become "de-calibrated" but of course none of the baristas bother to check.

I find that Starbucks fans think Dunkin Donuts serves "watered down" coffee, while fans of Dunkin Donuts think that Starbucks serves "burnt" coffee. It''s just a matter of what you like.

It''s sooooooo good.... man I think I need to go find one now

Oh wow monarch, now that''s what it looks like to be on vacation!!! Yeah!

Crown Jewel, we''re mug buddies! Er, hmmm, that doesn''t ring as nice as I thought it would, especially after the whole Northern Illinois shooting incident. A close friend of mine got me my pair for Christmas, after she saw me lemming them for a month. I''m such a sucker for Starbucks mugs! I compensate by buying them, then giving them away as gifts. They''re a pain to wrap though, so sometimes they just magically find their way into my cupboard to be adopted.

Oh well I make my own & it''s much, much better & cheaper.

CJ...I think that DD has totally watered down coffee!! It''s like dark water. And then Sbucks is weak too. I love Peets or Seattle''s Best or Caribou.
