It's here! 2.19 ct gray spinel in JuliaB diamond halo!

This was my first time having a piece of jewelry made! I purchased a 2.19 ct gray spinel from ArkieB via LT and then worked with JuliaB to set the stone. Julia was absolutely wonderful to work with, answering all my questions very promptly via the messaging system on Etsy (honestly, I don't know how she juggles her level of customer service in addition to a full-time job!) and giving me suggestions of which semi-mount to use to maximize the light play in the spinel. I had my eye on her Gerbera bezel, but at her suggestion, I went with her "swirly diamond halo" in 14k white gold, and I'm so happy with how it turned out! It's also neat to note that the spinel now shows a lot more purple in indirect sunlight than it did before it was set, so it now has an extra shade thrown in on its color changing Try as I might, I couldn't capture the gray-purple in photos, so you'll just have to take my word for it

2.19 carat gray spinel (8.8 x 6.7 mm)
Mount has 0.3 carats of G-H VS2 diamonds

Thanks! I wasn't considering this setting at all at first, so I'm really glad I took Julia's advice on it. Had I gone with a bezel setting or another semi-mount that was less open on the sides and bottom, I would have lost some if the lighter colors it turns to in different lighting.

I fell for the color as soon as I saw it posted because I also wear quite a bit of gray, and I wanted a RHR that would complement a lot of my daily work outfits

Thank you! I purchased the spinel from @arkieb1, who not infrequently sells loose stones. It’s a really beautiful, deep gray that picks up purples and gray-blues, and turns a pretty slate in some lights. It’s 2.19 carats (8.8 x 6.7 mm).

The semimount is from JuliaB Jewelry on Etsy (she also has a great Instagram). It’s 14k white gold and one of her signature styles (not a custom). It has 0.3 carats of G-H VS2 diamonds, and it’s a size 5 for scale reference.
