FINALLY!!!!!
First.. I want to thank all of you for your advice, encouragement and support over the past 6 months... it's been a long but fun journey! I have learned SO much and I appreciate this forum more than you know!
Many of you have been following my journey... But here's a quick recap for those of you who don't know and who don't want to filter through my old threads... (If you know the story, feel free to skip this and head straight for the PICTURES!! )
My DH and I were married in 1994 when we were 20 and 21. We had NO money! My mother gave us a ring that used to be her aunt's, which had a 1/4 ct center stone. And DH's grandmother also gave us a ring that had 5 .15ct stones. We took these diamonds, added a 6th "side" stone and designed a ring of our own. Here is a pic of my original wedding ring...
I wore this ring for years until I eventually lost a side stone and I stopped wearing it. We knew we eventually wanted to "redo" the ring by adding a "stone of our own", so instead of replacing the side stone, we decided to wait. My husband and I bought matching platinum bands and I have been wearing just that for about 8 years or so. Then a couple of years ago I decided to fix the wedding ring, remove the wedding band that I never liked, and resize it to wear as a RHR. Shortly after, the shank broke in half and back in the jewelry box it went.
Fast forward to 2012...
My husband's company was sold and we had stock options. We finally had the money to "upgrade" and my sweet DH said... If we don't do it now, we never will. So I began the process of designing my dream ring.
I started searching for antique stones, and cushion cuts and I eventually found Good old Gold and Pricescope. I fell in LOVE with the AVC!! I bought the first one, didn't like the color, returned it and bought my 1.87 ct J SI1 AVC. It is perfect!!
Then I began the design process (before I had done any research on designers, but that is in a different thread). I found Greenlake Jewelry Works in Seattle and began corresponding with one of their designers. I gathered a million pictures, and changed my mind a hundred times. I knew I wanted a halo and a vintage look, and as I gathered ideas, I fell in love with the partial split-shank as well.
We then decided to use my original 6 side-stones to create a new wedding band. Unfortunately I couldn't find a way to incorporate my 1/4 ct. stone that was from my mother. So I decided to have a daisy design included in the basket of the e-ring. Daisies are my mom's favorite flower (and mine and my daughter's!) and my mom had them embroidered on her wedding dress. They were also the very first flowers my DH ever gave to me when we were dating! So they are meaningful to me.
The CAD's were made, then changed, then approved then they made my ring... the FIRST version. It was CLOSE, but the daisies were not quite right. (they were hard to see and hard to tell what they were.) I sent the ring back on September 7th and had them redesign the daisies. They were also finishing the wedding band at this time.
FINALLY... TODAY... I got BOTH rings FedExed to my house. Woot Woot!!
Drum roll please...
I LOVE THEM!!! They are absolutely perfect and the most beautiful rings I have ever seen in real life!! They sparkle like CRAZY and I still can't believe they are really mine!!! Greenlake did a phenomenal job and they were delightful to work with! I am going to post a million pictures... so bear with me. LOL And YES... I do know that I am going to need to get a spacer ring. And I will, for sure, be looking for your suggestions!
So with no further ado...
May I present... Dougsgirl's Dream Daisy Ring!!
More pics coming...
