Hello everyone,

first of all I must apologize for my bad spelling and grammar, Im german and only had english in school (which is now lots of years ago).

My beloved SO is like myself in the mid-late-twenties and we are a couple since the 01.10.10. I mistake him on facebook for someone else, but we had the same humour so we went on a blinddate, knowing nothing about the other except our tiny blury profil pics. But it was for both of us love at the very first sight, we are together since then and I moved in with him in March '11.

He is everything I ever wanted in a man and all of his friends and relatives say they never saw him more carefull or happier, we talk a lot about wedding, engagement and engagementrings (which are not a very common thing in germany, most couples just fix a date without exchanging a diamond ring) BUT his younger brother is dating his girlfriend since 5 years and he said he wants to wait until they marry. Another point is I am taking the law state examina in Mai 12, so Im very busy and focused and he wouldnt want to distract me.

Thats why Im not expecting the proposal in the nearest future, but since Im in love with this amazing forum and want to be a part of it, and he is always great with surprises he might also propose before his brother pops the question, so please put me on the waiting list!

lots of love, leeona

That's an awesome story! I wish you loads of luck and happiness and may an engagement come for you as soon as possible!

Willkommen!

It's an exciting time, I hope your wait isn't too long. And in the mean time, good luck in your law exam!

Welcome!!

Welcome and best wishes!

I go to Germany a lot for work as I work for one of the major German reinsurance companies. I love it there but I understand what you mean about most do not get engagement rings. The last time I was there we had a conversation about that and I was surprised most wore simple gold bands.

I love how traditions are so different everywhere.

Good luck on your law exam - you join many future lawyers on the LIW list!

Your english is pretty damn good for only taking it in school. I'm now imagining myself trying to type on a Spanish message board - no way!

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Dear Misakichan, its really a romantic story and for me its like destiny, like something or someone brought us together at the right time in our lives. Are you from asia and are engagement-rings there also an important topic? Always thought thats a typical american thing.

Maebelle and Amys bling, thank you for welcoming me, I dont mind if I climb my way up to the top and stay there for years, because I am a very patient person and 100 % sure he will ask me (Im his puzzle-piece he would be an idiot if he doesnt) :D

Its great to hear that you know and even like my home country titian23, especially when you understand the cultural differences. My SO made his master degree in queens - kingston, canada and working for an international consulting company definitely opened his mind, so I can expect a classical engagement diamond, even if most of our friends and relatives might think he is crazy.

Dear LJL thanks for wishing me luck on the exam - I do need it, its not an easy thing in germany (but I guess thats equal in most of the countries). My written english is better then the pronunciation, but we often watch NFL football or english tv shows, so I understand almost everything thats written at PS and if not I look it up and get smarter :read:

To sum it up: thanks for letting me be a part of your wonderful community, cant wait to share news with you..

wanted to read your story after discovering your location :)

that is such a sweet and fateful coincidence that you found each other in such a unique way! it seems like you have a great relationship with him, i love to see people happy :)

it's also interesting what you said about engagements/rings not being common in germany - i didn't know that. sounds like you will be getting something pretty anyway!

good luck for your exam, your english is amazing having only learnt it at school!

Hallo - du kannst English sehr gut. Die meisten Amerikaner kann nur Englisch, und oft nicht so gut wie du!

I am also a lady in waiting, in the UK by way of the US. There are definitely cultural differences as far as engagement rings. BF and I are American but bought the diamond here. Only after discovering PS did I learn that in the US women tend to go for larger diamonds and give up color/clarity, whereas here people prefer smaller diamonds with better color/clarity. So the one I chose is HUGE for British standards but just average/small back home. Oh well!

Such a cute story. Enjoy your stay! I just joined and love it, it's a great place to be!

I love your story. Best luck to you and welcome.

thanks a lot girls, and wow peonia, austria is really close, its so nice to see lucky couples and the thrill of engagement all over the world..

Well yesterday was our 1,5th anniversary and I got a diamond.. In fact, I got two.. :naughty: We didnt exchange presents after 6 month, so I didnt expect anything and got no gift for him, but when I came down to the living room there was a small red box waiting for me and now I own the cutest dainty studs what so ever :appl:

They are whitegold with 0,1 carat and absolutely adorable. Now Im in the diamonds-every-day-club, they fit everything and are just simple and classic and Im so proud of him to AAAAALWAYS hit my taste..

big hug and have a wonderful week ladies

Pictures!?!?! Studs...swoon

Yes we need pictures and earshots! Haven't you learned from PS? You can't tease us by telling us about diamonds and not sharing pics! :naughty:

I <3 me some tiny little diamond studs. I leave mine in and literally forget about them. They pull every look together so classily. Enjoy yours for many years!

HI:

Your story is utterly charming. Welcome and may your stay be short!

I am also Canadian--but from the opposite coast of where your SO went to school. Great school--Queens!

cheers--Sharon

Still waiting for those stud pictures!! :naughty:
