Can I just say buying a green jade bangle isn’t as easy as it seems!
Im not talking about finding one in your price range or even finding one that is what is states, just buying one as described and failing that, just buying one.
it started off well enough, I found a bangle with certification. Now at $300 I’m not expecting grade A but the certificate says it is and the issuer was checked to be reputable so yay. I’m happy enough with that.
sadly jade bangle that was received didn’t actually match the certificate received. The seller had previously sold another similar bangle and had inadvertently mixed up the certificates, so I sent it back. Frustratingly while eBay takes your money in two nanoseconds, returning your money takes 2 weeks.
then I found another one, in the US. The eBay Global shipping program and I aren’t friends, I loathe and detest it but if thats what it takes, I’ll have to accept it. Beggars can’t be choosers! A jade bangle isn’t too big or extra fragile so it should survive the journey.
the eBay Global shipping service is not only incredibly expensive it is incredibly slow. And as part of their magnificent service they deign to unwrap carefully constructed padding done by the seller and then throw your item in a random box with eBay sticker on it, ship it around another 5 US states and sometime in the next month your battered package arrives.
ebay also kindly provides you with tracking updates
On 20 Dec it had arrived at the Global shipper in Kentucky US for international shipping
On 20 Dec, within the same 60 seconds, it was out with the courier for delivery to Sydney Australia (and you thought teleporting was only on Star Trek, eBay has one apparently)
On 21 Dec it was packed ready for International shipping (huh, what about yesterday’s update?)
on 21 Dec, 8 minutes later, the update went to “unable to deliver - parcel removed from container” then...... chirp......chirp.....crickets!
Searching various eBay forums for information, not good, its the black abyss of eBay MIA, never to be seen again. Well, not by the seller or buyer of the item.
sigh.
So I tried for a white jade bangle $45 and seeing as no one was bidding on the silver gem set one either, bid $10 on that. Yay, success and no Global Shipping involved.
but wait, checking yet another forum, a crumb of hope. Using the recommended search engine it appears my parcel only teetered on the edge of the abyss, it is still on it’s way perhaps.
Fingers crossed.
