Just a quick question on the off chance anyone else has found a solution…

I bought a pair of diamond studs from JA in a martini setting and they are extremely comfortable to wear as they are so light. The problem is that the posts are SO light that they are way thinner than any other earrings I have. This means I can’t use my normal wide backings with them.

The butterfly backs they came with from JA are minute and they don’t slide on well or feel secure. The studs also droop slightly because the posts and backs are so flimsy. But I simply cannot find any other backs which fit these incredibly thin posts.

Has anyone come across sensible backings which fit wire fine posts? I really don’t want to have to have backs specially made.

Im having trouble with backs right now too
im going to pop down to a local jewlers in town who have a bench
hoping as they make earings they will have spairs

Ive only recently realized earing posts come in different thicknesses

Me too! I only realised earlier this year when I got a pair made with the opposite problem - really thick posts which hurt my holes very much after a day of wear. It’s really quite aggravating.

I purchased a pack of these from AliExpress for my studs I bought from Ouros. Unfortunately they forgot to notch the post of my ear rings and the backs were not secure.
These work really well. Shipping took forever about 60 days but they only cost a few dollars for a pack of 100.
They work really well, they prevent the drooping7AA170E3-7C43-4700-891B-E65BAD1236DE.jpeg of heavier ear rings, they don’t look pretty but they are a cheap temporary solution.

I’m not sure how thin is thin but I have a set of pearl earrings that are very thin posts and none of my backings stayed on (of course lost the original butterfly to one) my jeweler was able to source me a backing with the clear disk so it fits securely and sits upright.

Can you have the posts replaced? That might be the easiest solution. If the posts are so thin, I'd also worry they could bend and I'd never be able to bend them straight again!

Hey there-Just another option/temporary solution.
When I have had this problem I used clear disc backs like this:
I take round needle nose pliers and insert them into the holes of the butterfly backs and squeeze to tighten. Alternatively, I have also used straight needle nose pliers and gently squeezed the edges of the butterfly backs and they have stayed on. HTH :)

Thank you guys so much, really appreciate it. I think I might get the posts replaced in the long run. I just don’t feel 100% comfortable with them this thin. Have ordered some clear backs from Amazon. Will see how they work in the interim. So frustrating!

I can’t stand those super thin posts. They’re like knives in the piercing.
On the upside replacing the posts should be easy and pretty inexpensive! Your local jeweller can order parts right from Stuller!

These are great for droop. I use them too but never without a metal back behind the silicon. I lost an emerald once as I think they soften up with body heat and loosen their grip, especially on thin posts. I use cuticle clippers to clip the nobby bit shorter to allow space for the butterfly backs.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll be mindful of them softening up and loosening up.
