Hello,
I am familiar with JannPaul from Youtube and I am wondering if anybody has any experience with working with the company, especially from outside of Singapore?

Are their Super Ideal Cut diamonds and other cuts legitimate and comparable to CBI, ACA or other hearts&arrow quality cuts?

How about the quality and craftsmanship of their custom settings?

If anybody can share any experiences they had with JannPaul or any other reviews/feedback they know about the company, that would be great.

Thanks

They are reputable from my side. They use tools and technology with a strong focus on cut quality and diamond appearance.

Thanks Garry,
I might be making a purchase with them soon and its encouraging and comforting to hear people approve the company's reputability.

Here are my actual diamond images. I bought my diamond from JP. I would highly recommend working with Joy from JP (you can read reviews about her on their Facebook page).

The craftsmanship of their custom settings is flawless IMO - I wanted a ring set (w wedding band) that looked like a twig and they achieved that perfectly based on photos. I now believe they can literally customize any setting you want even if it’s anything you find on Etsy or on the Internet. The design cost is included in the ring price and they do a CAD for you to review and you can make unlimited changes until you’re happy. They can even make a wax model to try on in person but that takes a lot longer.

Their craftsmanship is also not expensive and competitive with any other store in Singapore or cheaper, I find US custom settings on average pretty expensive. I paid USD550 for my fully custom solitaire setting in a twig ring. And USD700 for my slightly thicker custom twig wedding band with 5 tiny diamonds. I think that after I bought the diamond, they really wanted to help maximize my budget so I doubt they make too much off settings (similar prices quoted to other customers). A simple solitaire costs around USD600 at David Klass if I’m not mistaken.

If you contact me via my LoupeTroop page https://loupetroop.com/listings/loose-stones/0-dot-624-g-vs2-super-ideal-cut-diamond I’d be happy to send you close-up pictures of my ring (I’m sorry I don’t want to post it on the Internet because I copied a twig ring off the Internet by googling twig ring and I feel guilt towards the designer even though the rings don’t look identical to her design) and answer any other questions you might have because Joy was pretty spectacular. I chose a ring design that was not resizable because it had twig pattern all the way around the ring, but she still helped me resize it (twice.....) and has always been the sweetest person in person and via Whatsapp even when I’ve had difficult requests.

I am not an easy customer because I am extremely picky and specific and I worried a lot about the final product (had no idea how the twig ring would look). I would say their customer service is on par with WF’s CS (which is fantastic). But definitely speak with Joy because not everyone on JP’s staff speaks un-accented English and Singaporeans tend to speak in a certain way where sometimes foreigners find it difficult to understand if you’re used to loud and clear English and I don’t want that to put you off.

I think it’s important to note that if ever you upgrade, JP has a 100% trade-in guarantee minus 7% GST and you’d have to pay an additional re-certification cost (SGD$350) if you decide to trade-in more than 2 years later, but they only do trade-ins for Super Ideal diamonds, so your increased future budget would also have to fit around Super Ideal diamonds.

The mistake I personally made was going straight to JP and not knowing that there was Pricescope and that I could comfortably buy from JA, for example. I’m working with Concierge Diamonds remotely to find a much bigger stone now (they are great and maybe they could find you Super Ideal diamonds as well if you’re looking for other options). I think that looking back on my decision, I would have preferred a bigger non-super-ideal stone so I could max out my budget and size.

But I wasn’t confident in buying a diamond online so I trusted JP because I am 100% sure that I got a high-quality diamond and I knew that if I am unhappy with anything, they will go above and beyond to make it right (I read a story on the HWZ forums that stuck in my head, i think Jann upgraded someone’s diamond for free because they made a mistake and sold the diamond that had been reserved for the client. I can’t remember the story exactly but I remember “she got to choose a slightly bigger diamond without topping up” because the store made some mistake with the originally selected diamond).

After that I was pretty sold on the fact that they are gonna be responsible for their work no matter what and the boss wants clients to be happy (same as the recent WF issue where they made a mistake but WF did their absolute best to rush out the diamond and fix it). And I’ve felt the same, that they just want me to be 100% happy throughout my entire actual experience with them.

Wow thank you for this. I was trying to find some reviews and feedback about Jannpaul on PS but couldn't find any. I am glad that it is a good option for custom engagement rings with Super Ideal Cuts. The reason I was leaning to work with JP over another local company like WF, CBI or JA is because they offered my custom setting for 500$ USD which is almost half the price of the competitors. If their super ideals look comparable to the other Super Ideals, then why wouldn't I go with JP?

I also want to agree with you on the customer service of JP. They were very friendly, helpful and responsive. I was definitely impressed with the CS I received from them so far.

Okay I guess this is enough to make me pull the trigger. Thank you

I’m glad I could help in some way!

I would suggest that if you are still worried, get the CAD design done and provide clear pictures of the exact setting you want (side profile too) so you can confirm your design via CAD and you can see exactly what you’ll get. Maybe even ask them to photograph it professionally before they send it to you so you can check. Joy told me that once a customer wanted “a little more engraving detail on the leaf” and they sent it back to the workshop so they could make it perfect (I was worrying about them getting the twig texture right lol so she told me that and I think they are geniuses for recreating the twig texture beautifully).

I really think you’ll have no issues at all with the setting or diamond, and in the event that you do, they’ll work to fix it til you’re happy. Would love to see pictures of your finished ring if you ever post them!

@milkyway, I am not sure what are your desired specs, but the diamond that @jadesilver has listed is gorgeous! Maybe worth considering since you will be able to save money off retail.

Hey @SimoneDi
the diamond I am considering is comparable to jade silver's. I am just making this post to inquire about the reputability, quality and service of JannPaul in general.

JannPaul is reputable in my books. They are one of the few Asian based vendors that I would trust given their approach to diamond light performance (as exemplified by their YouTube videos).

Plus myself being from around those parts originally, I have to give them props.

@milkyway

I might be a lil late in replying to your post but I am also not based in Singapore but decided to get a super ideal cut diamond from JannPaul as CBI and ACA are based in US and I dont dare to ship them over with the risk of losing it. I also have plan for future upgrade and so as I live just 1.5hour away from Singapore, I think that's my best option.

in fact I just got back from Singapore last weekend to see and confirm the diamond that I ordered and it was definitely one beautiful diamond that blew me and my husband off as we saw it. Their prices are also very competitive.

we are currently finalising the custom design so just wondering how yours went.

I live in Singapore also and have been to JannPaul. They know their stuff but in my opinion you can a much better selection and price buying from the US even paying GST in Singapore.

I have looked at JannPaul’s stuff but always ended up buying my diamonds (have a few including an Octavia) from US vendors. Maybe worth checking out the usual US based vendors offering Super ideal cuts and seeing with GST how the prices compare to JP.

Good luck!

OoohShiny - not at all, thanks so much! I rarely post since I am so bad at getting all the steps right that it takes me forever to do!

And @Matthews1127 and @OoohShiny too on specs: 2.38, G VS2, Med Fl. ring size 3.75

@milkyway - sorry for the diversion on your thread but seems like from your other thread you have a diamond now from IDJ anyway. Congrats!

Oooh, I think that's the biggest Octavia cut to date? Or at least it will be until @Dancing Fire gets his upgrade cut! lol

It looks amazing, I bet it is distracting every day :))

:drool:O.M.G!!!!!!!!!!

WOW!, beautiful!:love:. At least now we know who own this beautiful stone. I would love to own a GVS2 Octavia:!:
Hurry up finding that new rough already ;)

Hey! I’m in Singapore too and looking at CBI or ACA diamonds. I would consider buying from JP if the prices and diamonds are comparable to the US vendors. Would you recommend a trip there or should I save myself the sales pitch?

Also any tips or tricks you can share will be most welcomed and helpful! TIA!

@icy_jade - I think JannPaul is very reputable as others have said so worth a visit certainly since you are in Singapore. My caution was only that you really want to check prices carefully since they are quite expensive from a few examples I have. Also if you are looking for any colours outside of D,E,F their selection gets pretty limited. Buying a Super ideal round brilliant should be pretty straightforward even with long distance since any of the good vendors suggested on PS would provide all the suppprting information (ASET, videos) needed for you to make an excellent selection.

Hope that helps
