I've been searching for the perfect oval for a while. At the moment it's a toss up between JannPaul's White series oval, and Jon's vintage oval at Distinctive Gem.
I recently visited Singapore and visited JannPaul to view an oval. I only had a short time and was jetlagged so didn't fully absorb everything I saw there.
I know their oval will be very bright but my question is do the proportions they cut to produce lots of rainbow fire as well?
I do have a real soft spot for vintage cuts with the wide flashes and the fire, so Jon's vintage oval has always been a strong contender for me, but JannPaul's have a few practical advantages - available now, easier geographically for me to get, I've seen one in person, their settings are good value, etc.
I know the 'flavour' will be different between the two cuts and that's ok. I would be happy with JannPaul's hearts and arrows style oval cut as long as it gives lots of fire along with the brightness. I will attach an example AGS report from the diamond I viewed on the day to give you an idea of the proportions.
