My girlfriend is in town and we went to Jared to take a look at 3-stone engagement rings. We''ve been looking for awhile and found the exact one that she wants. It is the perfect setting and size. However, the clarity is I2-I3...which I do not want.

Now, I know that many websites have similar settings...but has anyone seen this identical one -- or atleast a darn close match? Thanks.

Jared 3-Stone Setting

PS - Jared was going to insert sapphires in the pave (alternating) for $299, extra.

if you go to goodoldgold.com and go to ring settings, you''ll find several of this type of ring. I honestly wouldn''t purchase a ring from jared especially an I1-I2. You''ll get a much prettier ring and better deal going through a vendor like GOG, Whiteflash or James Allen. GL!

I have seen this exact ring from Jared in person and the poor quality of the diamonds is quite evident under normal (i.e. non-jewelry store) lighting. The diamonds are horribly included, the cut is not good, and the low color is very obvious. This ring just doesn''t sparkle much. It is very wise of you to want better quality for your future fiance.

Unfortunately I have not seen the exact same setting anywhere, but have seen similar. Scott Kay and Tacori have similar (and IMO more nicely executed) settings, however they don''t include the center diamond and these settings alone are pricey. You might want to contact Whiteflash.com and see if they can replicate the setting, along with the alternating sapphires you want. It never hurts to get a quote.

Is the price for this ring $2899 (plus the cost of adding sapphires, plus tax)? (Link to setting at Jared)It seems like a very poor value to me. You might may get an equal price and much better quality (and possibly no tax depending on what state you live in) by going with Whiteflash or other online vendor.

Has anyone else noticed that on the page they have the colour as I2 I3??? And the clarity as HI???

BNole, in my previous post I mentioned the color of the diamonds in the Jared ring. I want to add that if a diamond is ideal cut, a color of H/I shouldn''t be a problem... an H/I ideal cut diamond should face up very white.

I agree with everyone else - you should take the pic to a reputable jeweler and get it custom made with better quality diamonds!

Will WhiteFlash set a center diamond ... or will I have to take their setting to a local dealer to have it set?

Like I said, she likes this exact ring. We''ve seen many 3-stones like it, but this is her final choice. I''ll admit, the ring looked great in the store (and they let us take it down into a normal hallway). But, when I saw the clarity (on their website), it scared me away. I think everything else on it is okay, though (color seems good). I''m in the $3k price range...and this fell at 3.2 once I get the sapphires placed (and I walk with the 4 small pave diamonds).

Additional thoughts?

I agree that you should try a custom piece. I''d just send that link to WF and ask them what it would cost to have it made identical but w/alteranting sapphires on the band. The quality will blow Jared out of the water, and probably the same price point.

It won''t hurt to at least get a quote

Ask for I color and eye clean SI1 for clarity. The sapphires Jared will probably provide for the setting are going to be a very very dark blue (almost black in color) but when you view them in taht lighting, they will seem a nice medium blue (trust me...they don''t look this way outside or in "normal" lighting conditions (and not even in the "light" thing they provide so you can "see" how it "really" will look in the "sunlight")
