JCrow--

I''m hoping you can help me out.

I think I am going to buy Reem Acra''s "Enchanting" and just discovered that this was your dress. I found the dress online previously owned but never worn or altered. My question, when you bought your dress did the designer put the crinolin in the dress or did your seamstress do this for you? Since I''m not buying from a Neiman Marcus or Saks I wasn''t sure how to go about getting the dress altered, adding the bustle, adding the necessary fullness to the dress, etc. By the way the dress looks online, it doesn''t appear to have any of this so I wanted to see what you did or if you had any suggestions on what I should do?

Also, the dress is being sold for $2200...do you think this is a reasonable price from someone who owns this dress?

Thanks!

the dress already comes with crinolin. no extra needed.
just me, but at that price i''d pay for it at a bridal salon. is it already your size? including length?
just curious, did you find it at preownweddingdress.com?

actually i found the dress at yourdreamdress.com. it''s a size 10, new with tags still attached with receipt of purchase. the seller also has a return policy on the dress.

i would love to buy the dress at a bridal salon but every salon I go to sells the dress at over $4K which is more than I can afford. I''m really nervous about buying the dress online but I''ve read great reviews and since they have a return policy, it gives me more peace of mind. I dunno, i''m still debating it....

Thanks for your quick response!

i guess i''m so quick to say buy at the salon b/c i was THIS close to buying enchanting online, but a few things didn''t add up. and who knows what would have happend b/c the dress wasn''t as listed. but, i know lots of people on ps and other sites buy online w/o problems.

in the end, i am happy that i bought at a salon. for one, the seamstress there was amazing. i don''t know that i would have found a great experience with a seamstress not offilated with a store. again, this is for me personally. i had to take quite a bit in on the dress. several times, even. the bodice in the end fit like a glove, though. plus i had some serious length removed (i''m 5''). and i had a pretty elaborate bustle put in.
the salon also held the dress until bridal pics & wedding. after the bridal pics, i returned the dress and they cleaned it and pressed it in time for the wedding. i don''t know where i would have gone for that either, had i not gotten it from a salon.

but if all seems in order with the dress online, go for it! it''s one heck of a beautiful dress

ah, to be back in it again!

I totally understand where you are coming from which is why the bridal salon route is so appealing, but i just love that freakin dress...haha. I may end up going with a different dress that is a little more affordable but at least I''ll have the salon quality that you were talking about.

Plus, like you, i''m a size 2 in street clothes and 5''4" so the dress will also need to be altered for me...hmmmmm. This is so tough.

Thanks again!

size 10 size 2? definitely wouldn''t do it. the bodice is very detailed. the train, pleated. that would be helish alterations.
