Hi everyone! First time poster, long time reader...

Anyways, my boyfriend and I just started looking at rings and absolutely fell in love with the Jean Schlumberger Engagement Ring from Tiffany''s... does anyone have any pictures of theirs? Or anyone have ideas about who can make one that would look similar. I''ve just never seen anything else like it... I guess the downside is that it''s very expensive, but we have a few local places in Dallas that we''re going to look at.

Can''t wait to hear from you guys!

Wow, that''s beautiful! Have you tried it on or just seen it in pictures? A lot of times what looks good in a photo doesn''t work that well on your own hand, for whatever reason. Sorry, I don''t have anything else to say, except that you have good taste!

I tried it on and looooved it. It is very chunky and stacked really nicely with the thinnest Etoile band... thanks for your help!

Here is a bigger photo of the ring with more detail.

It is a gorgeous ring and the pictures do not do it justice. It is also discontinued, so enjoy it now. I would say that the detail on the sides of this ring as well as the craftsmanship that goes into making it could not be adequately reproduced unless the jeweler was working alongside the original ring and had a great deal of skill. Of course, how do you get the original ring?--That''s the problem. I would go in a slightly different direction. IOW, perhaps lower your expectations on what a jeweler can recreate, particularly when it comes to a ring with this level of design and intricacy, and all they will have to work with is a picture,--and a picture doesn''t begin to capture this ring, frankly. Instead, I would show the jeweler pictures of the Schlumberger and tell them what you like about it. Then let them put their own creative process into it. From looking on her website, Maytal Hannah might be a good place to start.

I also love that ring and in my endless browsing came across this by Michael Barin (michaelbarin.com). It looks pretty darn close to me..

It looks exactly like it! I can''t believe it... you must have scoured every single site. I''ve been trying and trying... i wonder if it is any less expensive. Looks like a lot of work went into it...

Also , I didn''t know they were discontinuing it... hmmmm...

Thanks for your help guys!!!!

sara, I think they already have discontinued that ring so if you''re serious about it you might want to see if they can put it on hold for you while you decide. And while that Barin ring is indeed quite similar, I dont think in real life it will hold a candle to the original because the Schlumberger designs have amazing attention to details...It is indeed a fantastic ring...

Surfgirl is right. There are obvious (and also subtle) differences between the ring that was pictured and the Schlumberger original. They are enough to change the look of the ring, so I would be sure to see the substitute in person before buying it.

There has to be a significant difference, because the Tiffany''s Schlumberger ring is composed of 90 rounds approximately 1.3-1.5 carats (not including the center stone). And it doesn''t seem to deviate much, just because the smallest center stone is one carat and the largest is 1.8 or so...

Michael Barin''s ring seems to be a bit chunkier- the TCW of the setting is over 2 carats and the setting is approximately $9000- which they are saying the pave stones are all D/E color and VS1 or better... that''s pretty sizeable and has some work into it. We definitely have to see it in person and because there aren''t any authorized dealers in Texas (WHY???). Anyways, Barin has our credit card and is sending us a ring... so I''ll tell you how it goes!!

But everyone is right, when I put on the Schlumberger ring, you know it''s a quality piece and looks magnifient!! More details and photos to come hopefully!!
