Jessica Simpson and her hangover

Wal-mart''s shareholders'' meeting was this week. All week, we have had free concerts. Wednesday night was Sara Evans, Brad Paisley, and Will Smith. They were all awesome and wowed the audience. Thursday night was Shikira, Jesse McCartney, and Jimmy Buffet. I didn''t go to the second concert, but everyone that went enjoyed it.

So, finally, today was the shareholder''s meeting for Wal-mart. The celebrities that were going to be there was a surprise. So, it gets announced that the star of MTV''s Newlyweds, Jessica Simpson, was going to perform the National Anthem. She never came on stage. So, Rob Walton continued with the meeting. Then, about an hour later, they intoduced her again. It took her five minutes to get on stage. Then, when she finally came on stage, she didn''t even introduce herself...she just started butchering the National Anthem. It was awful...she sang it like a sex song, and she sounded terrible. Then, when she was done, she said something about it being too early to sing the National Anthem... then she just walked off the stage with her daddy. He had to hold on to her. She also had her stomach bared completely bared, which offended a lot of the crowd. Everyone was talking about how awful she sang and couldn''t believe she was famous!! We later found out that she went out the night before and got drunk... so she had a hangover!! I hope she didn''t get paid much for her performance.

But, we got over it really quick when Bon Jovi came on stage. He was awesome!! Then, at the closing, Garth Brooks came on stage with just a guitar and microphone... no band. He sang great!!! He has the best voice! He sang, "I''ve got friends in low places" along with a couple other hits.

So... are there any Jessica Simpson fans out here to defend her?

No. I think she is a pretty girl with a good voice but that''s all. She tries to "sex" everything up. Sex sells, but not everyone wants to buy it.

The success of Newlyweds seems to have gotten to her head and now appears to be very self-absorbed and into Hollywood.

Hopefully she comes back to her senses because she is in danger of becoming...OVEREXPOSED!

I totally agree!

You pretty much covered them! How about Carmen Electra? She has never acted anything but slutty in any of her movies. The most recent movie being Starsky and Hutch where she acts like a skanky cheerleader and makes out with Amy Smart and Owen Wilson at the same time!

Jessica actually has a beautiful voice, but I don't like her style of singing...aka she overdoes EVERY NOTE...she can't just sing a song in a classic way...she has to give it that throaty style that is very her but for me it means that almost every song she sings sounds the same! She sang the National Anthem on that troops show she did with Nick and it was so all over the place and very overdone. I was hoping just for a beautiful belted out NA...but not her style.

I think everyone else on your list except for Kate Bosworth is deserving of the

, Jennifer...Kate is actually very low-key for an actress and is not of the same 'caliber' as a tabloid hungry Britney or Paris...yuck...I don't know how talented she is but she stays out of the tabloids for the most part!

One person that just makes me SO ill is Britney...honestly the girl had something originally but she blew it, and now she is just classless, VERY overexposed and very sad.

Oh and re: Jessica's flakiness. For an industry show this year in Vegas...one of the big manufacturers we work had a huge party, billing Jessica as the superstar singer for MONTHS. You had to RSVP super early, wear wristbands, tight security....etc.The night rolls around, place is PACKED, we got there a bit early and wormed our way up to the near front just for fun...She doesn't show! They said she was sick and out came....Kelly Clarkson instead! She sang 3 rough songs to a very bare audience (after everyone left as soon as they heard JS wasn't there) and then we all went off to the bars. Totally disappointing.

Ugh. Yep, I''m getting really sick of JS myself. Nick really needs to move on to a woman who actually has a personality and substance besides obsessing over the latest Louis Vuitton bag!!! I can''t stand Lindsey Lohan, she''s just a lemming for Paris Hilton. I saw her armed forces special with Nick and she really did do a little too much sex-kitten singing instead of using her voice. That''s what has pissed me off about Mariah Carey in recent years...talk about a PHENOMENAL voice...and then...not to use it??? And just whisper sexy instead??? It gets old.

But at one WORD of Bon Jovi afterwards???? I woulda perked right up too! They''ve been my favorite for DECADES.

I am guilty of really not knowing about some of ladies on my "list"... It just seems like there are SO MANY young female "entertainers"....How is there even enough work for all of them? The better ones may have some talent, a Mara and others noted, but how many starlets can we take? That's what really amazes me about American Idol--I mean, how many more singers can there be???

But I shouldn't even talk--I listen to 101.1 FM out here (the "oldies" station--which scary as it is, but even more so when "oldies" now includes the 60s through the 80s

I loved WCBS.

This whole Jack phenomenon is just more corporate greed and laziness--it''s a reaction to Sirius and XM. I guess the idea is like an eclectic mix on someone''s ipod.

The same thing happened here in San Diego. KFMB Star 100.7 was the #1 Adult contemporary station IN THE COUNTRY. It was huge, had won a ton of awards, did a lot of charitable giving (had started a shelter for victims of domestic violence) and an enormous fan base. It wasn''t always my cup of tea w/ their chatty DJs and frequently repeated play list, but it was VERY positive, popular, and a big force in the broadcasting community both locally AND nationally. And the same thing happened. With no warning, employees of 10+ years had no jobs, the format was changed to JACK, and Star was dead, the end.

Yea... Bon Jovi saved the day. But....Garth Brooks was so awesome, too. He didn''t even need a band.

Jessica Simpson was dressed very skimpy and he hair was short and curled up. She had on lots of black eye make-up. She didn''t get booed off the stage though b/c it was a shareholder''s event, so everyone was on their best behavior.

Her dad came up on the stage and said that he was so proud of his daughter, that you always hope the best for your children. Then, he said that everytime she gets on stage, he holds his breath until she is done. Maybe b/c he thinks she will forget the words??

I guess what made her look so bad is because for the previous two days, we had been wowed with Brad Paisley, Sara Evans, Will Smith, & Jimmy Buffet.

About the other stars.... Will Smith was so down to earth. Garth Brooks seemed really nice. It was so cool getting to go to all of this for free!!

Rumor has it when JS was under a lot of pressure to lose weight in order to gain the role of Daisy Dukes in the "Dukes of Hazzard" she supplemented her dieting with a little nose candy to help suppress her appetite. Which is why she is looking skeletal thin lately and "sick" so frequently. And why Nick is just about fed up and ready to move on.

I dunno, I honestly have a hard time believing that the daughter of a strict Baptist minister would take drugs.

My last issue of US Weekly had her workout routine and her diet in there, she really didn't lose that much weight, she just toned up from TONS of exercise, her trainer was talking about her routine and it sounds brutal.

Recently, when I have seen her in the mags, she does not look skeletal at all, she's VERY muscular...the lastest issue had her in a bikini for some video and she was ripped. A little too ripped for my taste but apparently she loves working out and plans to continue.

I actually like JS alot because it seems like while most of the other pop tartlets don't have talent and/or too many morals, she seems different. Yes she acts like a bubblehead sometimes and plays that up, but her background is more wholesome than most, she's got some talent, and I think she really found a man who adores her and has since before she was famous, and hope they can make it last.

Of course they are in the midst of their 15 hours of fame, so they are capitalizing on it as best they can, in interviews she has alluded to knowing that all this attention won't last...so they might as well do whatever they can so that they can be that much more 'well off' later once their stars have fallen. Probably speaking with more common sense than most celebs!

Lindsay Lohan - actually really talented, but really crass, stupid and overexposed at the same time. She was great in Freaky Friday and Mean Girls though.

Nicky Hilton keeps pretty quiet and doesn''t bug me. She had that quickie marriage, but other than that isn''t out there making an ass of herself

Katie Holmes isn''t talented IMO but is pretty classy and seems nice. the public relationship now is something I''m sick of hearing about, but i wouldn''t put her in this category, she doesn''t have that trashy vibe about her

same with kate bosworth - absolutely untalented IMO but not obnoxious or attention seeking, and not really trashy like tara reid, britney spears, or paris hilton (none of whom I think has an iota of talent)

and i don''t know what to think of jessica simpson or mischa barton really - jury''s still out for me on whether either of them are actually talented and on whether they seem genuinely nice or not, just hard to tell through all of the gossip

I agree that JS had some talent--she had a hell of a set of lungs on her when she started out--but now it''s just bleah.

I agree w/ most of Katrina''s assessments. I think LL is a talented actress but an absolute brat with no guidence. Paris Hilton is the ultimate fame whore and pretty much drives me up a wall. When she speaks, it''s like there''s just no affect--the girl is soulless!!!

Okay, I''ll admit it. With the first season of Newlyweds, Jessica caught on to me. She was cute and her ditziness was hilarious. I thought she was naturally gorgeous on that show, when she wasn''t all made up for a concert or show. There was definitely a certain innocent appeal to her in the beginning.

However, now it seems the fame and fortune is ruining her and that initial appeal. Of course, now we only see the gossip and who knows what is true and what isn''t... but I have to say... I''m losing my interest in her. Especially after that story of her trying to sing hungover
