Thanks for the news, Danny. I recently discovered Chopard Happy Diamond pieces and I am wondering which pieces the thief took! I wonder if he took things at random for the sake of speed or had things of value picked out and ready to demand. I wonder if the police will ever tell! (One thing I am sure of is that he didn''t bother with the Happy Diamond pieces that I might be able to save up to afford!)

It must be a new low for me to follow the exploits of a jewel thief with interest ;-).

But Deb! That's the thing. WHY are jewel thieves not considered to be the lowest of the low, etc? A thief is considered a very bad thing to be, but if it's a JEWEL thief, all of a sudden it becomes the stuff of movie legend:

It's almost like the glamor of the jewels wears off on the thieving.

I went to Chopard's website to see what they might have stolen: the "high jewelry" pieces could add up to that kind of money fast. Maybe it was some Happy Diamonds and emeralds, rubies, and sapphires.

Danny, dear, I am not sure about your reasoning.... I mean, I am not sure that just because everyone does it (thinks that jewel thieves are better than other thieves) that it is OK for me to do it. I suspect that my mother would say that it was one of those things that I shouldn't do just because all the other kids were doing it. It does, however, give me great comfort that I am not alone in my fascination with this...uh...heist. After all, it was you who first posted the news. I am in good company...or maybe I am in bad company, but it feels good ;-).

Deb, I would not do it, I'm just saying jewel thieves hold the fascination of the public. Hopefully, Chopard had insurance on the pieces, and tightens its security. If I'm being blunt, it's not the missing jewels I care about as much as the potential of someone getting hurt if people get the idea that they can rob these stores in the future.

Please tell me that you didn''t take my silliness seriously, Danny! I know that your interest in jewel thieves is innocent!!! I just had the chance to tease you and I couldn''t resist it! I have been longing to play with you, you know! I really feel quite certain that you are made of strong moral fiber!
