Jewellers in Australia and Pics and info about Holloway rings?

Hi guys I am brand new to this site… so firstly Hi!!
I am in the process of getting a ring (e-ring for my gf) and I am sort of trying to suss out the best way of doing things, I have had a look at various jewellers around here (in Cairns Australia) but haven’t seen anything that I really like (mostly because the diamonds offered seem to be of bad quality in relation to what they charge for them), so I thought I’d look at sourcing my Diamonds online.. I have had a look at Diamond exchange and even contacted them with a couple of question unfortunately the answers I received were not satisfactory (basically I would like to verify the diamonds with someone independent, but they told me that that was not necessary… hmmm but I want to don’t care if it is necessary…so I don’t want to use them)..

So what I am after is
1) Recommendations about jeweller in the Cairns area (long shot I know lol)
2) I have had a look at Holloway Diamonds (what appeals to me is the his reputation and the quality of diamonds) but I have found that it is quite hard to see good pictures of the rings that’s offered – I am intending to contact them to see if they can provide more pictures etc but I thought I might ask here if anyone have got pictures of rings bought from Holloways (use to be Precious Metals) that they can show and also any general opinions about the quality of their jewellery? I am after either a three stone ring or a solitaire (haven’t really made up my mind yet) in white gold (maybe Platinum).
3) Can anyone recommend any other online jewellers in Australia?

I am not sure about Cairns but I live in Brisbane and have essentially exhausted most of the diamond avenues around here and in NSW.

I am certain I have talked to Diamond exchange but I honestly cannot remember what I thought of them as I have spoken to essentially every online candidate in QLD I could find. I did find original-diamonds fairly helpful BUT when I arranged to visit they had bugger all stock to show me (I had arranged for an appointment and specified what I wanted to see and they told me to visit Hardy Brother''s to see what diamonds I liked

). The prices on the website are very overpriced compared to the vendors I have seen here, check their website and see what you think.

1) Sorry I don''t live in Cairns and have yet to find someone in QLD whose work is within my budget that I find impeccable.
2)If you go to the Holloway diamonds website you can request a catalogue (it is in the top corner).
3)No sorry

I think when it comes time to buy I will be buying direct from the states. Most I spoke to carry limited stock and were very overpriced (yet call themselves wholesalers

I have bought a diamond from Allgem Services in Brisbane – phone 3012 8665. I was very particular with Bernie as to what I wanted and he looked till he found exactly that so it did take a while. I am not sure if his prices were the best but he was in the range of what I was prepared to spend so that was not as big an issue for me as the quality of the diamond. I had my ring made by him also and I was not 100% happy with how the platinum was joined to the gold as it was set a little higher than I asked for. He did offer to have it altered at no cost but I have had the ring for a year now and it doesn''t worry me. Woth a call!

I had my rings made there earlier this year. I purchased my stone via the internet from a beloved vendor here and Garry and is staff made me a stunning platinum setting. The quality is exquisite and I also go a grain set wedding band wedding band mady by them.
When I had a problem with this ring they comletely remade the whole thing no dramas what so ever.
I highly recomend them.

thanks for your answers guys! really appreciate it! I have got some quotes through but I am not sure I am entirely happy with it... it just seem I can get so much better stones if I source them myself than what I can get from any jeweller... It seems I just cant make my mind up..
