... and I''m not saying that we "can''t", but if society dictated that men proposed, rather than women, how long would you have been dating before you popped the question, vs. how long you have actually been dating/the "end date" timeline.

For example: SO and I have been dating nearly 5 years. (5th anni in Sept) I would probably propose for our 5th anni. I can''t yet speculate when SO will propose, but I know it is on his mind... but who knows how long it can stay there...

I guess it is more of: what would be your fantasy time frame (your choice) vs. your reality time frame(his choice)?

Let's see....I think if women proposed, BF and I would still be on the same timeline. However, as a general rule, I like the idea of spending 2-3 years with somebody before making that choice. So I probably wouldn't propose earlier than that.

PS I think you mean "if society dictated that women proposed, rather than men"

I know I would have proposed earlier, but it wouldn''t have changed when we want to get married. We just would have had a longer engagement.

I love Fridays....

It''d be the same time frame as it is now. We''ve been talking about when we will *both* feel ready to get married, so I wouldn''t just randomly ask him out of the blue when I felt ''ready'' or ''like it was time'' or whatever.

I felt ready about a year or so ago but I wouldn''t have asked him then because he was still in school. I probably would ask him around this time. It''s all come together so I think now would be a good time... maybe a few months ago as well, before we made the big move.

In the end, I think our timeline wouldn''t change much whether it was me proposing or him proposing (other then I already have enough money in the bank for a ring, so that part may have gone a big quicker! haha)

He asked me a year and a half in - I would have waited another year!
