I just logged on to his website and find his new website is up and running - http://www.johndyergems.com It's so much nicer than the old site and the best thing is the listed retail prices.

very nice! Thanks for the post

Oh nice. Much easier to navigate through and seeing prices is great.

Much better website than the last one!! Thanks for sharing Klewis.

Sooo much better, thanks for posting Klewis!

Especially like that we can see larger photos now, a huge improvement (and massive temptation) ;))

i like also that the pictures are from smallest to largest carat! nice layout!

Appreciate it. Thanks.

Fantastic! The new website is so much easier to navigate. I also love the fact that the retail prices are listed now, which means that I can narrow down to the ones I can afford before emailing JD with lots of Qs (so I don't have to waste JD's time asking about something way over my budget ::)).

I agree with everyone else about the layout; it has an excellent search function, price listing, show information and even who we can contact to purchase his stones. :appl:

Glad everyone likes the new layout etc, it has been a ton of work and there are still a lot of small details to improve, but it is gratifying to know that it is appreciated.

This is partly fruit of earlier comments by users here about what they wanted to see.

I'm also very excited to see the new site; I love the layout and the easy to use search functions, and I also appreciate that the price listings are available to us as well. Congrats John!

:appl: That is a HUGE improvement! I, for one, was actually surprised by a lot of the prices for the stones! They're less than I thought they'd be. I always just figured that they'd be way out of my price range and would never have asked.

How do I get a login and password?

Hi all,

Brandy, glad you like it! As you mention prices are not as high as some seemed to expect. "Baby Dyers" which are a category that can be selected are all sub $1,000 retail.

Lady Disdain, please email me at johndyer (at) johndyergems.com and let me know where you are located and whom you are to acquire the necessary password and user name. Sorry about that!

"In lust"? Hopefully that is good. ;))

I lust as in you oggle, you fondle but never take home to meet the parents? :naughty:

John - thank you. I shall send you an email.

Here is my email in a less complicated format, I don't like to write it in posts so I am posting it as a picture. This helps me avoid spam. (Somewhat anyway, no method is perfect I have found.)

All,

Visiting John and seeing his wonderful treasures is always a treat. Now, with this new site we can all enjoy a visual feast without having to make the trip. John is one of the most innovative and creative artist-craftsmen currently working. Once the hype clears, John, along with artists such as Michael Dyber, Steve Walters and Glenn Lehrer, will define lapidary art for the late 20th and early 21st Century.

John - I'm sorry but I have to disagree with everybody.

Changing your website is dangerous to a gemstone junkie. It really MUST have a health warning as it's home page. A warning that viewing your new site could lead to bankruptcy should be mandatory!

In all seriousness, I have wanted one of your gorgeous gemstones for a very long time but always assumed they were out of the financial reach of mere mortals. I now (to my horror) find that some are within my budget (well, husband says I actually don't have a budget - but hey, what does he know?!!!).

Can I ask please if you deal with any accredited jewellery/gemstone retailer or just the ones listed? I am in the UK and wondered who I would need to approach?

I absolutely love it! I always admired your tourmalines, it is nice to see that you have such a variety of gemstones!

Klewis, thanks for posting! I think you may have cured me of my addiction to cabs and given me a new addiction! :))

Beautiful  I swear I didn't need to see all that.....

Thanks for the kind words Richard!

Hi Loving, sorry for the lack of warning! Glad you like them though.

Currently we don' have any select retailers in the UK, in that case you can either buy through a retailer in the USA such as Mr Wise who is well known on this forum or from us. The price will be the same no matter what the source.

Addiction?? Uh oh, sounds like the FDA will be trying to regulate me soon. ;)

I realized that some would not be able to see the picture I posted previously so here it is again for Lady Disdain.

John
What about prices through a Canadian retailer, such as Llyn Strelau at Jewels by Design in Calgary. Will they be the same as published?

Hi Gailey,

In answer to your question, yes prices through a Canadian retailer should be the same essentially. The difference would be VAT (or similar taxes if they exist) and a possible difference in price due to exchange rates being different between the Canadian dollar and the US dollar. (Not quite sure where that is of late.)

Llyn Strelau at Jewels by Design in Calgary is one of our valued customers and a very likely future participant of our Select Retailers program but since I have only had the new site up for a few days and am making many adjustments to it I have not had the time to talk with them or other retailers and set it up.

Since you all have looked at my site I have a question I am wondering about that I thought I would ask you.

When you choose a gem type (say tourmaline) under the heading "Gemstone" on the initial catalog page you get the page
http://www.johndyergems.com/catalog_pages/stone-Tourmaline1.html

Is it immediately obvious to you all that this is just the first page of tourmalines and that more can be seen by clicking the page numbers at the top and bottom of the page? Or is this a little too subtle?

We chose not to have them all on one page so as to speed the loading of the page but I am hoping that it is obvious that there are other pages so people don't miss them.

I noticed page 2 pretty easily so no, it isn’t an issue for me.

It is obvious to me.

With the page numbers in coloured font, I think they're easily seen.
