Has anyone used Jon’s service? I know he works with BN, WF & James Allen, and it sounds like a really great option… was curious to hear about people’s experiences? His technology seems incredible, and I know he has a stellar reputation- but I thought I would ask. I will likely contact him after the New Year to begin my search.

I’ve been in touch with WF and Continental Diamonds directly, but they didn’t have anything in inventory that I was interested in. I would also like to have an expert vet the way Jon does, I really need someone holding my hand because I’m shopping for a Pear and this is a whole new world- and I like the idea of potentially having an upgrade option… I’ve learned I’m fickle, haha!

Just wanted to post this pretty old-ish looking pear (not the specs you're looking for though but its pretty).

Jon's concierge service isnt really new. Its been available for a while I just dont know if a lot of people have taken
advantage of it. Old PSers look for themselves with the help of other PSers. I imagine there have been some folks
new to diamonds who have used him but may not have stuck around to talk about it.

He can do images and different videos for you which would be very helpful.

Have you looked at, and analyzed any pear videos to see what you like and dont like in a pear?

The low down on Super Ideal Vendors like WF and Continental...they own their Super Ideal diamonds. These are top of the
line round brilliant stones that a majority of the population is looking for (ie inventory moves relatively fast). It doesnt make
good business sense to keep large fancy-cut stones in stock that people only look for every now and then. It would tie up a
large amount of funds for a long period. That's why you are not finding large pears at these places. Can they call them in (like BN,
JA, and Adimor), yes they can, however, upgrade policies would not be in place because no one would want to keep that much
money tied up in a stone that will not sell easily.

You do know that places like JA, BN, etc don't own the majority of their stones, right? They are called in from whoever owns them.
(you may have already figured this out but for anyone reading this who hasn't).

Pears...

My 2 cents...look for what's going on in the rounded end of a pear. Try to find ones where the rounded end looks more like
a round brilliant as the stone moves. This helps to minimize the effect of what people call the "bow tie"* that is created by
the lower mains. (*bow-ties are dark to me but thats a whole nother post).

The mains are in pink (sorry for the crummy outlining)...You can find pears that have different numbers of mains (4, 6, 7, 8) which
all have different looks. You need to analyze some of the videos on James Allen or Blue Nile to see what you like and dont like
to see in a pear. You can look at the GIA report to see how many mains a pear has. You may be able to narrow down which
type of pear you like (or dont like).

I know some people have posted about using his concierge service and they were happy with it. I also think it would be worth reaching out to Diamonds by Lauren because they specialize in fancy shapes and could definitely hold your hand through it.

@tyty333 This was immensly helpful! HUGE THANK YOU! Yes I was aware that BN and JA are sort of like an "amazon" storefront... and there is just so much there to uncover. I am at the very beginning of this search and understanding this cut- the portion about the mains is SUPER interesting, and now I am going to go back and notate which videos I liked and their cert. I appreciate you taking the time to respond!

I plan to reach out to DBL as well, probably after the holiday...I spoke with @Rockdiamond years ago about a fancy yellow pear- and lab diamonds- God Bless his patience with fickle PS'ers :???:... but now my interest is on an icier white- he will be a great resource to reach out to!

Thank you so much again!! On to the hunt!
