I started my diamond education about 2 months ago and lurked on a few forums finally deciding pricescope had the best members and best collective knowledge. I spent a lot of time here and quickly learned that cut was the most important of the "C''s" when it comes to the performance of a diamond. I have been part of the growing group of people who exhaustively research major purchases online since the IRC days, and I think this type of consumer education is absolutely going to change manufacturer standards and consumer expectations - which is a wonderful thing.
Back to diamonds - I knew she liked princess cuts, but I also knew every one of her friends had a princess cut and as I shopped local jewelers I kept seeing the "frozen spit" or "crushed glass" look that I had read about. This is not to say there are not beautiful princess cuts out there as I''ve seen pictures of some on this forum, but something was missing for me. This led to my discovery of a man named Cary Horowitz, the folks at Good Old Gold and a beautiful square diamond also known as the Jubilee…
First Mr. Horowitz (one of the inventors of the Jubilee cut) - he is a great person whom I had the pleasure to speak directly with on a few occasions, as well as sharing late-night emails. I am extremely grateful to him for the time he spent with me and cannot express enough thanks for coming up with this beautiful cut. I don''t understand the diamond industry very well, but I am extremely grateful that you took the time to go through the multiple prototypes and hard work to arrive at the Jubilee. I think it is an absolutely stunning diamond, and even my meat-head buddies who could care less about diamonds do a double-take at the ring on my fiancé''s finger and say "Holy $%#^" as they take another swig of their beers.
Second Good Old Gold - Jonathan, Marie and the crew - thank you so much for spending time with me and furthering my education on diamonds. And for making my buying experience a hassle-free, confident decision. What you have realized is that there is a quickly multiplying group of people out there who are going to research every aspect of their major purchases. Kudos for detailing every aspect of the diamonds you are selling. I trust from the reviews on this site that you don''t even let sub-par diamonds into your inventory, but the way you present them on your website is awesome and will be copied by many in the near future in my personal opinion.
Finally, the Jubilee cut. Its praises have been sung and I''ve read every post on this site that contains the word "Jubilee" twice. Thanks to the members who purchased these early and posted their experiences and opinions. I had extremely high expectations when I was going to see this diamond for the first time, and those expectations were exceeded. I can''t say enough about the beauty of this cut, or the pride I have knowing that my fiancé has such a superior diamond on her finger… Oh yeah, she absolutely loves it too!!
