Okay, July Brides, we only have 2 months left (can you believe it??!!). I just realized as I was ordering my wedding band today that, even though I was REALLY on top of things when I first became engaged, I''ve started letting things pile up until the last minute!

Anyone else feeling the same way?

What do you all still have left to do before the big day?

HOW ANNOYING!

Ooh speaking of mailing invites and stamps... isn't the USPS raising prices this month? Anyone know when that's happening?

EDIT: Just looked it up... May 11. Keep that in mind everyone!

Hi all. I''m July 3 and have a lot already done, but also have A LOT left to, too!! Some of it is just simply a matter of time (such finishing pre-marital counseling as well, but obviously you don''t rush these meetings. You do them at the pace that you''re supposed to. :) ) and some other stuff that can wait (like marriage license). And the other things, I should probably hop on!! :)

Well I have had a fairly short timeline to work with in general (5 months from booking venue to wedding day!) so I still have alot of things to work out, but I just finished my invites so I''m feeling good about my progress so far.

What I have left to book/figure out:

Florist
Make-up/Hair Artists
Ceremony (what we will include, vows, etc)
Pre-nup
Gifts
FI''s Tux
Centerpieces
Guest Book
Programs
Place cards/Escort cards
Rehearsal dinner
Flower girl dresses
Style of cake

That''s all I can think of now, but there are probably hundreds of last minute details too
20.gif
I just hope I can get it all done by July 5th!

LOL, im totally cracking up at myself right now, as i just read your posts and realized i forgot some VERY IMPORTANT DETAILS!!

Marriage License
Vows
Choose readings (think im letting FI do that)
LOL

Hudson...how are you doing boxes? Are they cheaper than baskets (I''ve seen baskets, but never boxes and I''m intrigued!) Do you have any photos of them?

I have a lot to do as well. Too busy to post a list. But your lists are helping me...thank you!

Biggest thing is to get stuff for my bachelorette party. We''re doing a bar golf themed bachelorette party like they did on the movie Wedding Date. I need to buy some cute stuff for it! We''re going to 9 bars to complete our "holes".

Lanie, I'm doing gable boxes-see attached

These aren't mind, just a pic from google.

I''m July 11 as well, iloveprincesscuts!

I still have to:
-put together the centerpieces - I bought the materials and put one together, gotta finish the rest
-send out the last couple of invitations
-marriage license
-vows
-secure rentals for our backyard
-order the cakes - I know which ones and from where, but have to put the order in
-order our wedding bands - already know which one I''m buying for him, just gotta do it!
-buy my shoes!
-finish planning our honeymoon - SO EXCITED
-stuff for the kids to do at our wedding
-list of must have photographs
-get more details from the caterer
-re-pot the sunflowers soon (doing my own flowers)
-purchase the booze
-hire a bartender

He has to:
-get his suit/tux/whatever
-get a playlist together

Wow. Those gable boxes are CUTE! That one you posted matches my wedding colors! What company did you use? About how much were they?

I actually got mine from a friend of mine. They were her left overs and I got them for free. You can get them many different places online. You could probably find them at JoAnn''s or Michael''s, but I don''t know for sure. I would google "gable boxes" and go from there re: price.

JULY 11th for me!!! and....Aloros & Princesscut! :)

I am sending out my invitations by this weekend *May 11th deadline*

Call the preist for our meeting and vows

Meet with the cake lady again
Meet with the flower lady again

Send the song list to the DJ

Marriage license

I have minor decorations to get!

I bought a beautiful end of 2008 wedding dress for $450.00 but decided on a more simple dress that I am waiting to come in the mail
Anyone need a brand new wedding dress with tags on, no alterations in a size 6? (I wear a 4 normally) I am willing to "auction" it off (give it away) to someone who is really in need of one! There should be a Give Away Gown area on pricescope!!

Thennnn I get to write many, many checks!!!!!!!!!!! Ugg!

Tropicalkiwi - Can I ask why the prenup? I almost was not getting married over discussion of that!

Tropicalkiwi - Can I ask why the prenup? I almost was not getting married over discussion of that!

Sure you can ask. We just are both going into the marriage with a bit of personal money built up and want to make sure things stay separate. We are also both aware of inheritances that we will be getting down the road.

We have talked about divorce together a few times mostly because my parents divorced when I was a kid. Both of us are very against the idea and really think we will stay together forever. If something horrific happens however, our money/property will safely go only to who it was meant for.

Why are you against the idea? I''m surprised to hear that one almost broke up your marriage!

Tropikal ... I understand your reasoning completly. My fiance and I also have significant assets separate and we keep all financial separate and will continue to after we marry and if it was HIM bringing up a pre-nup I probably would have gone with it however, it was HIS MOTHER who wanted him to get one. It wasn''t something he never even thought of until his mother stepped in and, that is what made me want to bail.

I started thinking ... It''s me or dear ol'' mom! I thought what??? Does she think I am a "strap hanger" with nothing and I am looking to rob her son or something! We''ve been together going on 6 years, getting married - yes, this July and if I wanted something from him I would have already taken it and be gone!

That''s why no prenup for me!!!

Did you and your fiance both mutally bring up the conversation? I think it could be a touchy subject.

I'm weird about prenups too. I don't think I could go into a marriage if my partner said we needed a prenup.

Damn MILs always mess everything up

funny that you mention this, FI brought this up back in Feb. and I FLIPPED OUT. Basically we had NEVER talked about a prenup and then Boom, he brings it up. I REALLY thought his mom had said something to him about it because he really couldn''t give me a good reason as to why. He said ''his parents had gotten divorced and that is what made him want one'', I wouldn''t agree and it never got brought up again.

Basically, I wouldn''t have been against it if it had been talked about from the beginning, but it never was. It madde me feel like *someone* thought I was a gold-digger...

Well I can see why it was touchy for you, I would be upset if it came from a MIL too! What an odd way to begin your relationship with his mother, I''m sorry that happened to you.

I think FI brought up the issue of a pre-nup first, sometime at the beginning of our engagement. It wasn''t really a drawn out issue or anything (I think they are a great idea) it was more of a "so now that we are engaged I guess we will have to find a laywer to write up a pre-nup for us".

We are both fairly practial people, I don''t see it as unromantic, and it just seems like a good idea for us. So I never thought about it being a touchy subject, but now I''m curious about those of you who don''t like the idea.

Lanie and Blair and anyone else who doesn''t like the idea of a pre-nup.....what is it about them that you don''t like?

it wasn''t so much that I don''t like them, it was that FI and I had NEVER spoken about them, neither of us have trusts or gobs of money, he does have his house and considerable savings, I only have savings. I just felt upset by the way it was brought up and how I think it came from FMIL. But, it never came up again, so who knows really what his thinking was.

Sorry this turned into a different thread veering into the land of prenups.

I don''t like them because you are setting up the possibility that a divorce will happen. I''m not naive enough to think that every marriage stays intact, and I''m not naive enough to think that those that got a divorce thought there was a possibility to get a divorce when they married. But I don''t know...it''s just not for me and my FI. If anything, I will inherit more than my FI and I have more of a "cusion" than he does financially. But it never crossed my mind.

Now that I read you previous post again, I see you already said something along these lines, sorry I didn''t catch it before. I can totally understand feeling hurt when you think it is coming from FI mom.

Oh I''m sorry for my threadjack, it was entirely unintentional. Thanks for sharing your perspective with me though, it''s nice to hear other views on the issue.

thing2of2, I totally did the same thing with the wedding cake! Both FI and I really balked at the prices. I mean, they''re pretty and all, but we''d have to keep it inside anyways (outdoor reception), so what''s the point? We''re just ordering two huge sheet cakes. As long as they taste great, who cares?
