I haven't done it, but I've always wanted to.

My hat's off to ya, Iceman. I'll be behind you.

Wayyyyyyyy behind you...

What can I say , Im an adrenaline junkie

I've had one jump, but mine was a tandem. It was about 2 years ago for my 22nd birthday (present from mom) and it was one of the best experiences of my life (however short it's been so far). The feeling is more like you're flying or floating than falling... just amazing!!!

Never, never would I do that! I can barely look out my office window. There's a guy here at work who goes often, but he always does it tandem. He says it's all of the fun with none of the stress. In fact, later in month, he's taking his grandmother for her birthday.

Hey Ice, read this first!

http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/08/06/parachute.tampering.ap/index.html .

There are some real moronic people out there.

Ice,

My husband did a tandem jump before we got married. He was soooo into the high of the free fall and the sights that he *forgot* to pull his chute when it was time. The instructor ended up pulling it.

All I can say is THANK GOD he had someone on his back.

Don't forget to pull your cord. We want you back.

I'Ve done 3 jumps 1 tandem the other 2 I did by myself. Be surprised to free fall without a parachute for like 5 seconds then the chute is pulled then you float in the air for a while. If surprised windy when you get on the ground watch out you might get tucked in the air. Yeah Tanum is good just in case something happens but it sucks because the person is so close to you, you can feel his privates up your a## so it isn't fun. Pay attention in lessons! Have fun!

You'll love it Ice - it's by far the biggest rush ever! I've only done tandem, so can't help you with the solo jump, but I can tell you that if you jump from 15,000 feet like I did, you can expect around a 45 second free fall at about 120 mph!
Two bits of advice, one is if you wear contact lenses, get good goggles. I wore the cheap ones they lend you and I felt like my lenses were being sucked out of my eyes! Two - pay attention to wind gusts etc. We flared about 2 seconds too early and I had a sore tailbone for about 6 months afterwards! (For those of you wondering why, most tandem instructors will have you and he/she land in a seated position so you slide rather than risk a broken ankle.)
Good luck and have fun!

My husband has his military jump wings and loved jumping from an airplane. According to my husband it is important to really pay attention on how you are landing and not let your legs lock up. He had a hard landing once and said he was lucky he didn't break his back!

When he was going thru Jump School I didn't speak to him until it was over. I was much better being in the dark ; )

Ice, you must check back in and tell us how this went....

I'm just so anxious to hear....

I’m back

I don’t think I will do that again. I feel like I cheated death .

After my 4 friends that I talked into going up with me went out of the plane, I thought to myself "this might not be the smartest thing I have ever did" , I pondered the thought of not going , but I new it would be death if I arrived back on the ground in a plane.

So, to make sure I had a perfect arch going out. I had to climb out on the wing , hold on to the bar that supports the wing and hang at a horizontal position and then let go. The 4-hour class prepared me for my chute being tangled, I figured that problem out and enjoyed a nice ride. After the tanglement, I was trying to figure at 4000 feet where I was suppose to land ? The closer I descended the easier it was to figure out. It was easy to steer and in the Midwest, I had a choice between a soybean field and the open area, which I hit and hit hard.

The ground came up a little faster then expected. When I hit the first thing I thought was " Ive hit harder "

Two bruised big toes, but I was fine

It was an experience, which I live for, but I would not do it again

What a rush !

I hadn't read this thread until today. I am glad to have been able to hear the results of the jump immediately! From what I have read, many injuries are possible from jumping...and that is just from the way one lands, not from a catastrophic event like a a parachute failing to open. It's not on my "to do" list :-).

Iceman, I'm very happy you're back. That's all I have to say 'bout that.

Iceman, my knees are weak just thinking about it! No way I could have climbed out on a wing. Glad you made it back in one piece and also glad you're not planning on doing it again! But at least you have the story to tell!

Wounds heal, glory fades but I always have the story to tell

That's what life is
about.

This all started with that Navy commercial came out~ " If you had a book written about you
, would anybody read it ????????" I thought to myself ~ No! So I
started looking for high adventure and I have had a blast

My mother that is 81 years old said "that I was immature and irresponsible" and
that I was in my 2nd childhood. My wife said what do you mean ? He has not moved out of his first!

I must admit I don't want to get or act old. I was the first one yesterday loading the
squirt gun and getting my load of water balloons (In my good clothes no less, I was
to excited to go change

)

The neighbors can think what they want I enjoy life, I still look at things through the
eyes of a child
