I just wanted to extend my thanks to the folks on this forum. The informations and insight I''ve gathered here have been invaluable during my search for my (now) fiancee''s engagement ring. Without Pricescope, I would''ve certainly ended up with an inferior stone/setting for a higher price. To recount my experience...

I was ready to purchase a 1.7 ct "Signature Ideal" round I/SI1 from Bluenile when I did one last search and stumbled on to this site. After reading a few of the posts, I decided to hold off and educate myself further before moving forward. After reading positive reviews of James Allen, I searched their inventory and came across the stone that would eventually be placed on my fiancee''s finger. Here are the specs:

Weight: 1.849 ct
Measurements: 7.88 x 7.93 x 4.86
Cut Grade: AGS 0 (Polish: 0, Symmetry: 0)
Color Grade: AGS 2.5 (I)
Clarity Grade: AGS 5 (SI1)
Total Depth: 61.3%
Crown Angle: 35.3
Pavilion Angle: 40.7
Culet: 0.1
Table: 55.3
Girdle: 1.3% (Thin-Med.)
Fluorescence: Negligible
HCA: 1.6 (ex-ex-ex-vg)

Before getting on Pricescope, I hadn''t even heard of James Allen; my searches were limited to Blue Nile, Diamond.com, and Mondera as my employer had discounts with those vendors. I''m glad I widened my search! I worked with Jen & James at James Allen and both were wonderful to deal with. Very professional, helpful, and courteous. They shipped directly to my appraiser of choice, Nancy Stacy in Walnut Creek. Based on my research, I believe she is, by far, the most qualified appraiser in the San Francisco Bay Area. My experience with Nancy was a positive one overall, as well. Even though I live/work over an hour away from Walnut Creek, I feel it was well-worth the drive.

I chose to purchase the stone on-line and then have a local jeweler (Derco at Santana Row) set it on a Vatche x-prong. I weighed the pros & cons and decided that the convenience of having a B&M shop maintain the ring would be worth the risk of signing the waiver. Ryan & Maryam at Derco were tremendously helpful and I got the stone set within a few days. Once the ring was finished, I went back to Nancy to finish the appraisal.

Here''s a link to a few pics of the finished ring. In some pictures, the stone came out looking tinged yellow, but in person, it''s very white & eye-clean.

My financee is in love with the ring and she''s unspeakably excited about the entire prospect of the engagement. Thanks again to the contributors at Pricescope. Your time & energy really does make a difference!

thanks- it''s in

That is a beautiful ring! Congradulations!

I don't mean to be blunt or a downer, but is it just me or does the I color look a lot more tinted than one would expect? It may just be the lighting where you took the picture or the camera. What certificate do you have, AGS?

Gonna say the same thing, I think it might be the light.

Gorgeous! Congrats!

Wowzer! Whatta honkin rock!! Lucky lady.

Thanks for all the kind words!

With regards to the color, I think it''s taking on the color from the floor (bamboo hardwood) in these photos. I had the ring resting on its box on the floor to catch the light coming in from the window. It looks very white on her hand.

To answer the other question, the stone''s AGS certified.

Absolutely right. I can see the color in the background of your photos.

The ring looks stunningly beautiful. Congrats and best wishes.
