Hi, I purchased a preloved Tiffany ring from Ebay UK. Ring is in excellent condition, looks very sparkly.

I think the 4C are very good (I read quite a bit before I bought it), but in this forum I see you check also other proportions. Do you think they're good?

As for the ring, it came with certificate in teal folder (same inscribed number on the band), teal box and teal ring box as well. No ribbon/bag/letter of valuation/sales receipt. I had a friend authenticate it at Tiffany's UK and he was told the ring is authentic, however they could not provide an estimated valuation document.

I read on the forum, a very old thread, that for this letter you need to pay and eventually have it reauthenticated in your names. Can you tell me whether it works like this and whether in general it is something I would need, or what I have in terms of paperwork (the certificate) is sufficient?

Thank you! Lovely forum :)

I could be mistaken but I don't think they will reissue paperwork anymore in a different name other than the original purchaser.

Unfortunately the proportions aren't what we would recommend in most cases. Is the tiffany brand important to you? You should be able to find better cut stones from tiffany pre owned

OP
You seem to be happy with the purchase and also important to you it was from Tiffany’s. Tiffany’s has been selling diamonds of high quality way before PriceScope was in existence. Although the specs may not align well with PS specs, does not mean the diamond is a poor diamond. If you are happy with how it performs, then stop right there and enjoy the ring. Good luck.

This is a good point. I didn't mean to detract from the purchase.

Thank you all for your comments. My only doubt is - how exactly is the ring shown by the other user better considering that on the HCA test mine appears to have a higher result? It is just out of curiosity, thank you! ☺️

Are you happy with the ring and what you paid for it? If so, I would just focus on that. Comparison is the thief of joy. If you are happy with your purchase, just enjoy it! If you are unhappy, that's different. But, if you are happy, leave well enough alone and enjoy the ring!

The way the HCA works is a mass rejection tool, not an individual selection tool. It also is not able to vet and assess a diamond's finer details of cut precision, optical symmetry, and optical performance since it's only going off of averaged and rounded numbers listed on a grading report.
Any score below 2 is considered "pass, but assess for precision and optics". A 0.8 is not necessarily better than a 1.1 which is not necessarily better than a 1.7, etc.

If you have any concerns about your diamond, then you can purchase an ASET scope (from Garry Holloway outside of the USA or from Dave Atlas in the USA) and take a deeper dive into optical performance.

If you don't have any concerns, then you're the proud owner of a lovely Tiffany ring!

This forum has wonderful, generous experts and lots of information. Info overload can drive you (me!!) a bit nuts about finding the *perfect* stone or having one that you (I!!) loved until becoming a bit tortured about the less-than-super-ideal specs of my stone.

As others have said - if you love it, then love it and forget about the numbers. Nobody will admire your ring and say “but what about the crown angle”??

This is easier said than done - i had a whole journey to reaching peace with the stone i have - the one we chose and that has traveled *our* road with us.

Congrats on your Tiffany find!!!
