I was married in July 05. We worked a deal with the photographer and he shot digital then gave us DVDs with all the pictures & rights to them. With help from friends (and some on this board) I was able to convert the very large files (each picture was 24" X 36" on the DVDs) to a level that was more manageable. Then I uploaded all 800+ pictures to Snapfish.com. The first thing I did is print a proof set off all my pictures on snapfish.com--It was less thatn $100 to get a copy of everyone of the pictures. Then, I put them in regular plastic sleeve photo albums so we had a proof copy of each.
But the real fun was doing one of Snapfish''s memory books for our wedding album. The memory books are printed & bound just like a regular book from Barnes & Noble. I used about 300 of my pictures (there were lots of dups on the original 800--same pose--just multiples taken to get everyone''s eyes open etc.) You can pick a layout for each page & choose whether to have captions or not. I chose a black leather cover. I ordered the book in late November and just got them over the weekend.
All I can say is WOW! The book looks awesome. I was really impressed with the resolution & reproduction of the photos. The glossy pages really look professional. I really like my wedding album done this way rather than the more traditional printed pictures stuck in leather album. Best of all we printed multiple copies (at 25% off) so we can give one to our parents. I had 124 double sided pages in my book and the total cost for the first book was just over $120. There are always coupons for snapfish too.
Just had to mention this because I was really impressed with the books and it is a great option for those who are negotiating with photographers now.
