Hey guys,

Just got my WF diamond. When I was using the scope, I noticed that the diamond has an inclusion on the crown I didn't notice from the pictures. I paid about $30K for the diamond and I'd like to get a second opinion. The diamond looks good under the idealscope but would love some opinions

What opinion are you hoping for? As you have the diamond in hand, can you see it with your naked eye on close inspection and in a variety of lighting environments? If you can after obsessing about it, does it bother you? If so, return it, if not, enjoy.

Diamond looks great otherwise.

I can see it in the video but that’s zoomed way in. Personally it wouldn’t bother me if I couldn’t see it without magnification. If it bothers you, you may have to find something that doesn’t have anything on the table. Some people need eye clean and mind clean, it’s just a personal preference.

Looks gorgeous, my wife’s diamond is literally nearly an exact twin, love it. Yes, there is an inclusion under the table, but it’s 100% eye clean, of course you will see the inclusion with a loupe, especially when it’s unmounted. If you want really, really hard to find with a loupe, start looking at VVS. I‘m sure it’s beautiful.

Does it bother you? If yes, I think it will always bother you. For me personally, I selected a VS1 for mind clean reasons. Only you can decide if it is your diamond. Maybe ask your sales rep if there are any other options so you can make an informed decision. I do agree with the others that you likely won’t see it in real life, but if you don’t love this diamond, let it go and find one that you love. Way too much money for something you don’t love

Can you see it with the naked eye, and does it bother you? If yes then maybe return. But I know this wouldn't bother me.

I agree wholeheartedly with everyone. @Titan7 , yes, when you take a loupe to diamonds, you will see more than your naked eye. And @lovedogs this probably would not bother me either. If the diamond is super sparkly and lively and beautiful enough for me, a VS2 with an inclusion I can see with a loupe is fine.

But everyone is different, and maybe you're not ok with that. If that point is more important than the others, then return it. So like @gm89uk , not sure what specific opinion you're requesting. Does not matter if I'm fine with it. Are you?

@JohnSalads
About color and inclusion its more of preference. Some people need to get to VS1 to be mind clean. Some people fine with Si2 or even lower grade as long as its eyeclean. Eyeclean means under normal viewing distance without loupe and you still don’t see anything. So the question you’re asking only can be answered by yourself or your SO if its for your future spouse. If your diamond is eye clean under normal viewing, other aspects is fine, can you/your SO accept the inclusion after seeing it under the loupe? Just like what other said, if it bothers you now it’ll bothers you later, so you might need to keep on searching. If it doesn’t bother you, don’t see any reason to not take it.

@JohnSalads You said you saw this crown inclusion with your scope - what power is it? I *think* the standard for AGS/GIA from which they plot lab reports from is 10x, but someone correct me if I’m wrong. If you’re viewing under a higher power, it’s possible you see something not plotted.

Alternatively, if what you’re seeing on the crown is this (see red circle), I think that is just a reflection of the plotted inclusion on the lab report.

I am the type of a person who needs a clean table for mind-clean reasons (I do not care whether I see the inclusions with a naked eye or not, my mind will always see it.) For that reason, I only buy VS2 with a clean table (which are rare) or I have to pay more for VS1. Some people would not be bothered by the inclusion you have. I 100% would. Would you? If so, return. If not, enjoy the stone and do not look for "flaws" with a loupe - or you will find them.

I'll have to say, that inclusion is faint even at huge magnification. I certainly wouldn't return it for an inclusion that can't be seen with the eye. I don't recommend giving a loupe to the person who receives the ring. What you see with your eyes is most important, and that is a VS2 stone, so it certainly should be eyeclean.

There seems to be a spot on the table. I personally chose VS1 with no imperfections visible up close with naked eyes because that was my cut-off. If it bothers you now that there is an imperfection on the table, it will bother you even more as the days go by. It's an expensive purchase and you would want to be elated about it, not wonder all the time whether you can see the spots. Just my two cents.

It’s a big purchase and you should be perfectly happy with it. Is this going to bug you forever? If so, return it.

Although I do think if you need high magnification to see it then maybe you could look at it as a way of identifying your diamond instead? Like a fingerprint??
