I just received my engagement ring from Blue Nile. I want to thank everyone who posts regularly in these forums for all the insight (I''ve been lurking for weeks now .
The diamond looks great - especially under incandescent light and bright sunlight.
It''s a strong blue and it shows very white and clear indoors and turns an amazing shade of light blue outside with HUGE flashes of blue, red and orange! Incidentally, I bought her an uncertified diamond solitaire pendant (1/2 carat) in the Toronto jewelery district for Christmas last year and I just noticed this week that it''s also fluorescent and looks great outdoors. I''m SOLD on med. and strong fluorescence being a positive attribute in a diamond.
I had it set in a basic six-prong platinum solitaire setting. I went with the six-prong because I wanted the extra protection -- she can be a bit accident prone . I figure we can upgrade the setting locally if she prefers a different style.
I will post pictures soon.
Once again, thank you to all. Now to plan the proposal!
